recursive finds
I am trying to supplement and ultimately provide a patch for ''foreman'' which is an adjunct to puppet. Essentially, there is a Hosts class which belongs_to Hostgroup and Hostgroup class has a column called ''ancestry'' which is actually a Hostgroup (probably what is referred to as STI but I am not sure) and thus within Foreman, nesting Hostgroups is not uncommon. Thus I could have a Host that is called "ServerA", that belongs to "WebServer" Hostgroup which has an ancestry (Hostgroup...

Maximum likelihood
Hello all, I'm trying to calculate the Maximum likelihood of individuals to get the ancestry. I mixd 3 populations 15 generations in proportion of 20% 20% 60% when each population sorce have diferent genome (0 1 and 2) with frequencies for each one. So now i have individuals looks like 0 0 2 1 1 2 0 ..... and i don't now how to calculate the mle although i try to figure out from the pa...

Question on an alternative to ls() and expanded R object types
...desire for more sanity in my object name space. These ideas may just be a whacky, way too difficult to implement or already possible with existing functions. Would it be possible to improve R's listing ability by adding the capability to list objects by type, creation date, modification date, ancestry and/or user comments? Right now my object names are devoted to keeping track of these issues rather gouping objects by subject. My object names have their types either as prefixes or suffixes and my name space is structured whith A.~~ as storage space, f.~~ as functions, p.~~ as plot scripts and...

...king-copy syntax of 'svn copy' (i.e. don't use full URLs) and the changeset will then show the differences between the trunk and Testing branches. It's certainly not a problem to do it the way you did, but SVN does have some pretty neat capabilities that make it easier to track the ancestry of a file. -- - Charles Lepple

Rails 3 - act as tree
Greetings friends, is there any newer plugin like act as tree or something better, for dealing with product categories and sub categories in Rails 3 ? Whence "post" in a description?
...m/Odd-response.body-behavior-to12837556.html#a12837556 That is, after a post, response.body is just the controller/view string ("user/login" in my case). Failing to find any answer on the web, I''m trying to trace execution, but hitting a bit of a snag. I''m tracing the ancestry of self inside a test example to see where the "post" function is actually defined. I''m getting a hit on Spec::Rails::Example::FunctionalExampleGroup, but I cannot find where it is defined in this module! ????? -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Whence-%22p...

Eaton_SDK dangling branch solved
I've solved the problem of the detached Eaton_SDK branch. What must have happened here is the branch creator did a non-Subversion cp -r followed by an add of the target directory. This registered a tree that duplicated trunk, *without* ancestry information connecting it to its source revision. The correct fix is to check each new text section against a list of MD5 hashes of old text sections. If I find a match, I then fill in copyfrom_path and copyfrom_rev information so it looks (for purposes of parent and branch computation) as though...

Pattern matching - how to ignore numbers after 10 digits
All: Yesterday I discovered something interesting. I dialed 1800ANCESTRY from the asterisk system I am testing and got the number doesn't exist message. I then dialed the same number from our old system and it went through. I realized that the "Y" in ancestry made the number too long, and went back to my dialplan. How do I ignore numbers that are to...

mgcv and gamm4: REML, GCV, and AIC
Hi, I've been using gamm4 to build GAMMs for exploring environmental influences on genetic ancestry. Things have gone well and I have 2 very straightforward questions: 1. I've used method=REML. Am I correct that this is an alternative method for estimating the smooth functions in GAMMs rather than GCV that is often used for GAMs? I've read up on REML and it makes sense, but I'm con...

temporary file
Hello I did the following command: rsync -a --delete cpbackup /mnt/backup/ It works well, but the problem is that it seens the "temporary files" (ie: -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 83623936 Apr 19 2004 .name.tar.gz.yGk7m7* ) are being created on /mnt/backup/ Since it's a SAMBA mounted partition, it waste BW and is slower. Is there a way to specify where I want the temp files to be

alternate gem repo?
Hey folks, I''ve looked through the docs, and the mailing list, but for the life of me I can''t figure out how to specify an alternate gem repository for a package. From the docs, it looks like I should be able to do source => whatever, but this seems to just send gem looking for a specific gem at a url, rather then the more general alternate source for the gem. It looks

Advice on data design idea
I''m about to embark on a project and am seeking advice on my approach. I have an automotive site that needs to have shared categories. I''ve checked out different nested set, ancestral, acts_as_tree, acyclic plugins but feel they don''t exactly fit. So I am about to roll my own simple solution. Any feedback as to whether this looks good is appreciated. Essentially I

...new positions for our bioinformatics team. The team will analyse the ?omics data produced at GMI, which currently includes disease cohorts such as IBD, Multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's, rare diseases, cancer and recently we have opened programs in diabetes and asthma. Our work will also focus on ancestry related topics, namely how population genetics can increase the power of disease analysis. We are building a team of cognitively diverse people, that will feed off each other to find GMI?s analytical solutions, ranging from bioinformaticians; biologists or medical doctors with knowledge of bioinf...

Re: AWS Client Usage
...r"? I.e.: require "soap/wsdlDriver" factory = SOAP::WSDLDriverFactory.new("http://url/to/wsdl") client = factory.createDriver ret = client.someMethod(arg1, arg2) The main disadvantage of this approach of course being that any custom structured types will not have the same ancestry as the real ones, but if your client is completely seperate from the server, that should be fine. Microsoft SQL Server and R
I have a client running Microsoft SQL Server. I am interested in ways of accessing data from this server using R. I would welcome any information about how this can be done. I have a reasonable grasp of SQL and have experience with MySQL and RODBC but don't know anything much about Microsoft SQL Server.
