booting from ashift=12 pool..
.. evidently doesn''t work. GRUB reboots the machine moments after
loading stage2, and doesn''t recognise the fstype when examining the
disk loaded from an alernate source.
This is with SX-151. Here''s hoping a future version (with grub2?)
resolves this, as well as lets us boot from raidz.
Just a note for the archives in case it helps someone else get back

Contact Directory on Polycom IP-501 phones
I'm testing out some IP501 phones and I ran into an issue. WHen I try
to add a new contact into the directory, I am not able to. A window
blinks really fast but the entry isn't saved. When you exit the Contact
Directory system you get a 'Busy! Please try again' window.
What the heck could be going on?

parsing a data file
Hi,
I need to parse a data file (output of a measuring device) of the
following format:
BEGIN RECORD [first record data] RECORD [second
record data] RECORD
[third record data]
END
Line breaks can (and do ;-() occur anywhere. White space behaves very
much like TeX, eg it is not important whether there are one or more
spaces or linebreaks as long as there is one of them. It is a text
file, not

Question on 4k sectors
Hi. Is the problem with ZFS supporting 4k sectors or is the problem mixing
512 byte and 4k sector disks in one pool, or something else? I have seen
alot of discussion on the 4k issue but I haven''t understood what the actual
problem ZFS has with 4k sectors is. It''s getting harder and harder to find
large disks with 512 byte sectors so what should we do? TIA...

two questions for R beginner
>>> What were your biggest misconceptions or

>>> with R?
Easy. I terms of materials I have been unable to find good books that
introduce users to R from the perspective of someone familiar only
with packages like SPSS or STATA, or not familiar with statistics
packages at all. Even introduction texts use jargon
