Refusing password from win95 client
...ord is not correct'. If you disconnect the drive and re map it, you are prompted for a password, and it works fine. But then when you reboot, the problem is back. Slow writes continued
...course of the write operation. This does not happen in identical circumstances using an NT client. Since my write speed is now acceptable, this isn't so urgent, but I find it rather odd all the same. Any ideas? P.S. my RCVBUF and SNDBUF are now set to 10240 bytes. -------- Jon Peterson jon@amxstudios.com London, UK ICQ 13403962 War is not about who is right. It is about who is left.

Samba replacing NFS
...linux machines? Will this not be faster? (It could hardly be slower). It seems perverse to use a Win32 protocol between to *nix machines, but NFS just seems very very slow. Can anyone think of a good reason _not_ to use samba in this situation? Thanks. -------- Jon Peterson Head of Development AMXstudios London, UK +44 171 613 5300 www.amxstudios.com ><> <>< ><> <>< ><> <>< ><> <>< ><> <>< ><> <>< ><> <>< ><> <>< ><> "Don't co...

Very slow writes to Samba server
...'t think that's a problem. The only thing out of ordinary that I can see is that 'smbstatus' tends to show far more locked files than it did in earlier version, but I was assuming that was simply a change in Samba. Has anyone else experienced this ever? -------- Jon Peterson jon@amxstudios.com 64 Paul Street, London, UK And now it's time for Groovy Grumbold's Rock Roundup on Radio Wortlethorpe.

folders with veto files not being deleted

passwd chat string for Solaris 2.6?
...ris 2.6 or something near it? I turned on debugging, but after wading through the megabytes of output, I still see little if any correlation between changes to the passwd chat string and lines appearing in the log. So can someone be nice and send me something? Thanks. -------- Jon Peterson jon@amxstudios.com London, UK Microsoft has a major year 2000 problem: Linux
