Hey. I'm new to Linux based operating systems. A friend of mine introduced me a year ago and I finally decided to try it so try to bear with me here. The problem I've been having is that I've managed to get Amnesia to work under the latest Wine version (1.3.31) but the game is really choppy. I've tried messing with the Wine configuration and the in-game configuration but it hasn't helped anything. I have noticed that it's not choppy when I open the menu so that makes me think that it might have so...

I've built some CentOS 5.5 64-bit systems straight off the DVD, full installs, and the Gnome screen lock (manually invoked or automatically via the gnome-screensaver) does not allow the user to unlock the screen. Decided to try wine to run games so I did not need to dual boot with windows. I downloaded steam first because it looked like it worked well in wine. Steam is working great. Downloaded Amnesia, the Dark Descent first and tried it out. It runs great. Decided to try Half-Life 2 and I get the Valve screen then it goes black for a second then the screen is just a bunch of random pixels. I am a newb to wine so please don't be to harsh with me. I just set up my new Lenovo ThinkPad X220 for use with Ubuntu Natty. All is well (even the function keys work!) except for 3D games. I'm not asking a lot here - these are games that are supposed to run at least decently on a HD 3000 accelerator. So far I've tried Amnesia: The Dark Descent, it's Linux-native demo, and Portal.
