I have been trying to read in a tab delimeted file where the column names and
the row names are of the form "GO:0000051" (gene ontology IDs). When using:
> gomat<-read.table("test.txt")

Probit Analysis: Confidence Interval for the LD50 using Fieller's and Heterogeneity (UNCLASSIFIED)
Classification: UNCLASSIFIED
Caveats: NONE
A similar question has been posted in the past but never answered. My
question is this: for probit analysis, how do you program a 95%
confidence interval for the LD50 (or LC50, ec50, etc.), including a
heterogeneity factor as written about in "Probit Analysis" by
Finney(1971)? The heterogeneity factor comes into play through the

nnet 10-fold cross-validation
Hi
It clear that to do a classification with svm under 10-fold cross
validation one uses
svm(Xm, newlabs, type = "C-classification", kernel = "linear",cross =
10)
What corresponds to the nnet?
nnet(.....,cross=10)?

reconsider SRP, it's way cool
I just joined the list, and I see in the archives that about a month ago
there was a brief discussion of SRP, but it was dismissed.
I urge people to take a look at this site:
http://srp.stanford.edu/srp/
It's very cool.
Let's say I'm on vacation visiting a friend, and I want to log in to
my account back home. I trust my friend's machine, but I don't have

Is it solve.QP or is it me?
Hi.
Here are three successive examples of simple quadratic programming problems
with the same structure. Each problem has 2*N variables, and should have a
solution of the form (1/N,0,1/N,0,...,1/N,0). In these cases, N=4,5,6. As
you will see, the N=4 and 6 cases give the expected solution, but the N=5
case breaks down.

Chemoinformatic people
Dear colleague,
Just an e-mail to know if they are people working in the field of chemoinformatic that are using R in their work. If yes I was wondering if we couldn't exchange tips and tricks about the use of R in this area ?
Best regards

Re: Calling R functions from Java (D0c)
Hello kanglin:
Try to transfer from Java Object JList to R Object Data.frame, you
could use
public Rconnection r_connection = null;
.....
.....
this.r_connection.assign("dataframe_ex",java list_ex);

outlier tests
I have been learning about some outlier tests -- Dixon
and Grubb, specifically -- for small data sets. When
I try help.start() and search for outlier tests, the
only response I manage to find is the Bonferroni test
avaiable from the CAR package... are there any other
packages the offer outlier tests? Are the Dixon and
Grubb tests "good" for small samples or are others

PR$7706, png device plot on athlon 64 processor
A later bug report (#7860) had to do with inappropriate sizing of the
first text drawn on a png() device, and I've now fixed the bug that
caused that. Could you please check whether you still see your bug on
today's build? It will be available on CRAN tomorrow (May 15), in

SRTP woes
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi,
I'm running Asterisk 11.3.0 on wheezy.
I'm trying to do TLS +SRTP with blink SIP clients as shown here
https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Secure+Calling+Tutorial.
TLS is fine and I can call between clients. SRTP is a different matter,
my SIP clients return: SIP 488 "Not acceptable Here"
I'm really stumped on this

small security-related rsync extension
Included below is a shar archive containing two patches that together:
1) make backup files get their setuid and setgid bits stripped by
default
2) add a "-s" option that allows backup files to continue to have
these privileges
This means that if you update a collection of binaries with rsync, and
one or more of them has a local-root security problem, the backup
file(s) created when

Newbie question - AIX binaries
This is as "rookie" as you can get. I would like to install and config Samba on
my AIX 4.2.1 box, so that its printers and files are visible to my PC's on my
Novell network. The PC's are NT4.0 workstations.
I will admit right now that I am completely unfamiliar with Samba, and I'm
having difficulties finding what I need. I have tried going to several sites

Samba and NT4-sp5 problems ??
We were using Samba 2.0.2 and Windows NT4-sp3 quite happily.. however
someone wants to use sp5 (get me a large caliber rifle, PLEASE!!), and
during some testing we noticed what 'looks like' file corruption problems.
Files do not seem to get written to the samba shares properly/completely...
I say looks like, because copying the files manually seems to be fine, but
when done within an app,
