Bad recorded audio quality (upgrade).
Hi, all. I'm doing an upgrade from an Asterisk at Home (Asterisk 1.x) system to stock Asterisk 1.4. Everything's working great, except that all the prompts (both stock system prompts on the new system and people's old recorded VM prompts) sound HORRIBLE. Call quality is great, both internal and external. Any idea as to what might have happened? Could I have brought over a config

PoE switch recommendations?
Hey, all. We're rolling out VoIP, and I'm wondering about PoE recommendations, as we're going to have to replace our current network equipment. My first inclination would be to just plunk down the cash and do a Cisco system, but I'm relatively certain that would get shot down by finance. Any recommendations for a couple-hundred-port solution with VLANs, PoE, and QoS? Don't

I've fallen and I can't... re-join?
...ong fine for their end users. This means that their locally cached profiles are w-a-y out of synch with the stuff on the server. So, my question: is there any way to "re-add" the PC to the domain w/o having the locally cached stuff get thrown out with the bath water? Thanks! Ken D'Ambrosio Sr. SysAdmin, Xanoptix, Inc.

...users' screens when that happens. However, some of the computers in question don't have a corresponding <03> section in the PDC's wins.dat file. (Oh: Samba 2.2.8a, under Debian.) Any ideas as to why it wouldn't be there? The clients are all W2K boxes... Thanks, Ken D'Ambrosio Sr. SysAdmin, Xanoptix, Inc.

Backup of btrfs with metadata?
I know this question was asked, oh, a year ago, and the answer was "No." But I''m wondering if anything''s changed in the interim. Specifically, shy of "dd", is there any way to back up the files and metadata on a btrfs partition? Thanks! -Ken -- To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-btrfs" in the body of a message

too many files open
Good morning Btrfs list, I have been loading a btrfs file system via a script rsyncing data files from an nfs mounted directory. The script runs well but after several days (moving about 10TB) rsync reports that it is sending the file list but stops moving data because btrfs balks saying too many files open. A simple umount/mount fixes the problem. What am I flushing when I remount that

Trunking through an old Asterisk box.
Hi! I'm helping set up a new Asterisk box. However, since I can't just take the T1 to play with (and I *will* be making many changes, e.g., going to Adhearsion), in order to test my dialplan, I'll need to route calls through the old, Asterisk 1.4 box. I've never really done this. What's the right way to go about it? Thanks, -Ken -- This mail was scanned by

W2K/2.2 (CVS)/PDC problem.
Hiya. I'm trying to get a 2.2 PDC working, and am hitting a brick wall. I've tried to make sure I'm in compliance with the 2.2 HOWTO and FAQ, but it doesn't seem to be helping. - I've added both root and my pc's "hostname" to smbpasswd, and the hostname itself to the passwd file, as per the HOWTO. - I swiped the smb.conf and /etc/rc.d/init.d/samba files from
