/var/amavis
Hello all,
My /etc/group is not quite in order (a long story), and now I need to
correct privileges right here and there.
I would ask someone who has amavisd-new to show me the corresponding
listing as this:
[root at mail amavis]# ls -l /var/amavis
total 20

Email pid issue
..._____
Logwatch is reporting this error, which I'm going to assume has been occurring for a few years but
doesn't affect sending/receiving emails, so I haven't chased it down, now I'm looking to fix that.
1 (06498-19) ClamAV-clamd: All attempts (1) failed connecting to
/var/spool/amavisd/clamd.sock, retrying (1)
Since this is reported by "ClamAV-clamd", I am assuming this is coming from amavisd.conf. My
logic on this is that a grep search for that particular string only shows up in the
/etc/amavisd.conf file, when its calling the scanner. Pasted code from file below:...

Postfix , Dovecot & the Spam fight
Hi,
I'm currently busy with a substiution of my current mail server. I'm
currently using
* Clam-SMTP and
* SpamAssassin
to fight Spam. I wonder if it is worth implementing AmaViS with
SpamAssassin backend instead and also using AmaViS to speak to clamd
directly. But I more and more wonder wether AmaViS is even worth it?! It
currently looks to me as if AmaViS is eating LOTS of ressources and it
is very uncomfortable for automated installations if you have to do
dynamic...

More on amavis/clam permission errors on Centos 6.3
I should probably find either the amavis or clam list(s) and take this
there?
Anyway, I have totally rebuilt my machine with clean installs. I have
spent time carefully (I hope!) studying the amavis and clamav conf files
before starting them and running the tests. Here is what I am getting:

ls and rm: "argument list too long"
Since when is there a limit in how long directory listings CentOS can show
(ls), or how large directories can be removed (rm). It is really annoying to
say, for example
rm -rf /var/amavis/tmp
and get only "argument list too long" as feedback.
Is there a way to go round this problem?
I have CentOS 5.2.

Postfix/Amavisd/Clamd - Mail send failing
Dear All
With help from you all I am now at better stage. Special thanks to Robert.
Atleast I am able to run all the required services (postfix, amavisd, clamd
etc).
I sent a mail from my gmail, I received at my newly setup domain/mailbox.
I am facing issue while sending the mail outside.

SELinux, Amavis, Clamav
Regarding the brilliant wiki site:
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Amavisd?highlight=%28Amavis%29
I faced the following issue on CentOS 6.2:
"Spamassind" saves each message and its attached part in a folder in
clamd accesses the folder, creates itself a temporary folder and deletes
it afterwards. This was stopped by SELinux and caused the virus scan to
fail....

so I have /etc/tmpfiles.d/clamd.amavisd.conf with content
d /var/run/clamd.amavisd 0755 amavis amavis -
the process owner name and group name are amavis
this is not quite what you specified - which should it be?
My real head scratch problem is that running clamd from a cli works
perfectly.
Trying to get systemd (via systemctl start...

amavis-new and mysql
Trying to figure this out, as it worked on my old server, but lots is
different on my new server....
I forgot the mysql connection for amavis-new in my new mailserver, as
none of the tutorials I was pouring through mentioned this, even though
they claim they supported virtual domains...
Maybe amavis-new has gotten smart enough to recognize a domain as not
the one describe and suspect relaying. Anyway...

antispam plugin, amavis and sa-learn
Hello,
I would like to use the Dovecot antispam plugin to train SpamAssassin via
sa-learn. I compiled the plugin and got it to work with the sendmail
backend, which I tested by having it send a message to me.
As I'm calling SpamAssassin with amavisd-new, I have a system-wide Bayes
db, maintained by the amavis user. As expected, the antispam plugin calls
the configured binary as the mail user (I'm running deliver as suid, with
mixed virtual and system accounts).
My question is: How can I get the plugin to call sa-learn as user amavis?
I...

Amavis on Centosl help
...rovide two new subroutines available for calling from config files:
include_config_files() and include_optional_config_files(), each take
a list of filenames as arguments, and reads & evaluates them just like
normal configuration files specified on a command line (option -c
or a default amavisd.conf). This provides a simplified and uniform
mechanism for 'including' additional configuration files, which formerly
could be invoked through a perl do() function. The only difference
between include_config_files and include_optional_config_files is that
the former aborts if som...
