Flac Files Messed Up By Amarok
A while back I posted about issues with flac files that were not able to be decoded. Here's what I do know: I've ripped most of my collection to my hard drive using KAudioCreator and I've specified that they be stored in flac format. All files play without trouble through Amarok. I found out there was a problem when I had selected files in a playlist and picked "burn" through K3B. All the functions worked appropriately, but then I had problems with burning. I found that if I just ran "flac -d {filename}" on the problem files, I always got the sam...

Fixing a Corrupted Vorbis file
Hello, Since last week I started having random ogg files from my library turning corrupt, and practically being unplayable by anything. All this while I was browsing and sorting my library through Amarok. Luckily today I've found the possible culprit, Amarok itself, and others who may have the issue as well: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=369672 But regardless of how the issue started, the question remains, how can I fix the affected files? Already tried a couple apparent tools, like og...

Problem decoding .flac files
I've been having problems with Amarok and K3B, but I think it comes down to a problem with flac. All my music and audio files are encoded in flac format. I've ripped my CDs using KAudioCreator and using this command to encode them (split for formatting): flac --best -o %o --tag=Artist=%{artist} --tag=Album=%{albumtitle} --ta...

FLAC: player with native support for flac embedded pictures
Hi, I'm looking for an audio player with native support for flac embedded pictures. I use Amarok (http://amarok.kde.org/) in linux, but I can't find any player in Windows that has this same native support for embedded flac pictures. I hope somebody can help me thanks in advance! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://lists.xiph.org/pipermai...

Playing Games with Wine while listening to music
I have this problem: When playing a PC game via wine while listening to music with let's say Amarok, there's no sound in the PC game anymore. It's like the sound channel is occupied by the music player so wine cannot playback any soundfiles. Sounds are working if I play a Linux game like Nexuiz while running some music via a music player (ok, completely different, I know, but still...), s...

Red Hat is Planning To Deprecate KDE on RHEL By 2024
...avail-gnome-centos-7/ > Thanks for the readings - as someone that recently moved from 10+ years on Ubuntu, I quite liked Unity. I'm finding Gnome a little brain dead in some obvious-to-me-why-not-everyone-else areas. For me, the saddest thing about this announcement is that I *still* think Amarok is the best media player available, even if I've not used it for a while. Installing the entire KDE base for one program is just too heavy. It really is streets ahead of the other media players though. Cheers L. ------ '...postwork futures are dismissed with the claim that "it is not...

Unhandled page fault
Hi all, Since last week I've been unable to run any applications with Wine; it'll always lock the mouse and keyboard, even though other applications don't freeze (at least Amarok can finish playing the current track, but stops when it is finished). When this happens, I'm forced to kill Wine remotely, and then I always get something like this > wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000348 at address 0x7e1525ec (thread 0009), starting debugger... > Can...

metaflac --remove-all-tags
there something fishy going on, have about 21 flac files, in a folder, and 9 of them still showing meta tag data in juk. When running metaflac --list, show nothing on all 21 files, however in amarok and juk I can still see some info on 9 flac files. Howdoes one fix these flac files? are they corrupted? flac -t came back ok on all Anyone ? Richard

including images
...an anybody tell me what the maximum filesize is for an image file to be included in a FLAC file? I'm just exploring this feature and I didn't find this yet PS: Does anybody know why there are so little programs that actually support the viewing of embedded pictures? I only found 2 of them: Amarok in linux and foobar in windows. thx in advance! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... wav to flac corruption
...fect copy of the original BWF. So I was fairly confident that the flac encoding is working correctly, the problem definitely appears to be with the flac players. Unfortunately it seems that the majority of flac players cannot play 24bit files - winamp, windows media player (with flac plugin), vlc, amarok, kaffeine and a few others ALL failed to play the file. I would either get silence, static, or a complete refusal to play the file. The only player that played it successfully was Foobar 2000 on Windows. More seriously from my point of view is the Java flac plugin also fails, which has major reper...

ices-kh60: latency bug
...nutes. The stream plays OK, but the audio coming out is 7 minutes behind what goes in. I'm not sure how this can be happening, seeing as I don't think there are any buffers that long in the system, but it is. I've checked that it's not a problem with the player app I'm using (amarok), and it isn't - even if I reconnect the stream, there is still a long latency. I suspect the problem is caused by running the stream for long periods with no audio input (zero sound level from an unconnected jack graph), as this is what seems to cause it. any help with this would be appre...

where did all the nonfree rpms go? Nvidia? xine-lib-mp3?
I installed Centos on some machines that need long term support. I'm running up against some simple user convenience issues. How to play MP3? I've been really puzzled today that the addon rpm sites like livna, rpmforge, rpmfusion, epel, don't seem to have something like amarok-mp3 or xine-lib-mp3. What am I missing? It can be done in Ubuntu, Debian, and Fedora Linux. In the worst case scenario, what must be done? get the xine source code and build an rpm that includes the mp3 components? Do you have Nvidia cards? Then I noticed there is a new Nvidia proprietary dri...

xorg--x11-fonts-75dpi vs xorg-x11-fonts-100dpi
What is the difference between xorg-x11-fonts-75dpi and xorg-x11-fonts-100dpi? Under what circumstances would one want to use the 75dpi version versus the 100dpi version? If you have both installed, does the xorg server just pick the one that it considers best based on some criteria? Should you have both installed? Is anything gained by having both installed? As you can see I don't know
