Theora file extension
Theora and Vorbis both uses same extension .ogg. I know ogg is a
container, just like avi. But in my opinion video and audio files should
have different extensions (using .ogv can be a nice idea).
To a media player it doesn't matter what extension a file uses, but to a
human who does a ls in a directory full of media files having different
extensions will help a lot. I know one can use file

patches for xiph build setup
Hi,
I offered some time ago to do some build cleanup. Today I did so and
here's my slew of patches.
Basically, they
- touch ogg, vorbis, vorbis-tools and theora
- fix a bunch of autotools issues
- uniformize the use of them across the four
- fix compile/link flags
- use pkgconfig if it's available to detect flags
- for vorbis-tools, generate and use config.h
- add -uninstalled .pc stuff

isohybrid warning about 1024 cylinders
Hello,
The recent discussion about the size of the image produced by isohybrid not being a multiple of 2048 when people use -h 255 -s 63, made me wonder of whom should be worried by this more than 1024 cylinders warning.
Are there any technicals details available on this "not all BIOSes will be able to boot this device"? After all, any hard drive now a days cannot be represented under

RFC: Feature: MENU HIDDEN behaviour on ANY key
Hello,
Here's a small enhancement feature for menu.c32. Looking for feedback before starting any coding (not sure when I'll have time for implementation)
Regards,
Dany St-Amant
*Problem statement*
When MENU HIDDEN is used on an headless server, any noise on the serial console can interrupt the boot; it would be preferable if there only specific keys were allowed to interrupt, reducing

libreadanything ?
Is there a library that decodes any file format ? I need a
lib to decode ogg-vorbis (of course) and also wavs, mp3s,
flac... Using several different libs is not a good
solution. I don't like to use a lot of different APIs
to do the same thing with different file formats.

SYSAPPEND not replacing spaces
Hello,
The description of SYSAPPEND for the DMI information states that the spaces are replaced by underscores, but this replacement does not occur in 6.03. There's small bug present in triplicata in com32/elflink/ldlinux/readconfig.c:copy_sysappend_string(), com32/menu/readconfig.c:copy_sysappend_string(), and core/sysappend.c:copy_and_mangle() prevent proper replacement of spaces by

Hello,
While experimenting with possible menu layout found this issue; the entry for MENU BEGIN doesn't follow MENU INDENT.

Fix: hotkey uppercasing too wide
Hello,
Stumble upon this issue. If one define digits as hotkeys, the action is also taken for the non-reserved CTRL-P to CTRL-Y (also affect ASCII prior to digits). Here's a quick patch, quickly tested for action on uppercase/lowercase and digit and inaction on "matching" CTRL key.

Dany

Fix: previous command at boot prompt not cleared
Hello,
In syslinux-6.04-pre, there's a fix for gcc5 about not returning local pointer. (https://repo.or.cz/syslinux.git/commit/8dc6d758b564a1ccc44c3ae11f265d43628219ce). This fix introduce a bug visible in two ways.
After typing a 'bogus' label/kernel at the boot prompt: pressing ENTER on the next prompt result in using 'bogus' again instead of booting the default, pressing

Fix: menu immediate for submenu
Hello,
the hot key assigned to a MENU BEGIN (via MENU LABEL) doesn't cause the submenu to be entered automatically when MENU IMMEDIATE is used (at previous level). Here's a patch over syslinux 6.03. Patch was tested on Debian.
Regards
Dany

Bug/limitation: allowoptions (for label), implicit (for automated)
Hello,
At the boot prompt ALLOWOPTIONS 0 is only applied to implicit kernels and not to labels. For configuration which want to allow selection, but prevent customization of the kernel command line, this behaviour is bad.
Also the IMPLICIT 0 is applied to both the boot prompt and configuration setting (like DEFAULT); but one could argue that only the command supplied at the prompt make sense to
