Linux router performance
Hi,
I wonder about the performance of a Linux box used as router (I guest I''m
not the first :). Althought I know it mainly depends on the hardware, I''m
trying to find some references on the topic or comparations with other
routing solutions (FreeBSD box used as router, Cisco, etc). For example,

Cross validation for Naive Bayes and Bayes Networks
Hi,
I need to classify, using Naive Bayes and Bayes Networks, and estimate
their performance using cross validation.
How can I do this?
I tried the bnlearn package for Bayes Networks, althought I need to get
more indexes, not only the error rate (precision, sensitivity, ...).
I also tried the *e1071* package, but I could not find a way to do
cross-validation.
Thanks for everyone.

quadbri NT_mode S-Bus Problem
...ouse telephone system with VOIP. Preferably I would like to run a
setup, so that our internal ISDN phones on an S bus are not aware that * is
sitting in between.
With the configuration below I run into the following problems:
1. On outbound calls, I get the normal rining call progress tone althought
the the other party has not even been reached. This then changes from normal
ringing suddenly to busy when the other party is sending a busy signal. I'd
rather have the call progress send a busy signal right away.
2. Internal calls between to ISDN phones on the S-bus is not possible. The

with this configuration I can still hear the echo signal (althought the
signal is a little more silent. when using the delay 3 buffers the echo is
still not cancelled and after few seconds I don't hear anything.
Can anyone help me with getting good results in echo cancellation?
thanks in advance for any suggestions

Append one Ogg file to another ?
...ase to excuse my bad english and the (maybe very silly) question if it has been
asked before - I am quite new with Ogg and an absolute newbie on this mailing list,
but I did not find anything appropriate in the list archive.
The question is quite simple: How can I append an Ogg file to an other ?
Althought I must admit that I didnt try it, I believe that just a
'cat part-2.ogg >> part-1.ogg' won't do it, because then I whould have the user-tags
twice, and different stream-serial-numbers in one stream ?
I think technically, this should be possible - does there exist a tool to do this...

Wine/Interix -- The pros and cons.
...(let's just say it isn't pretty)
There are several obvious pros: You can test Wine almost fully under
Windows without mingling with Windows's native componets. This would
allow for better and faster compatability tests. We could also see what
"unknowns" exist in Interix -- Althought not nessessrarly useful to Wine
developers itself, it could mean a whole new generation of applications
which are half-Unix, half-Windows, if the right holes are found.
I am sure this will spark a LOT of debate.

FileColumn

<%= file_column_field "my_model", "column_for_file_name" %>
---controller
upload
@my_model = My_model.new()
@my_model.save(params[:my_model])
end
I get a new record inserted into the database but without the filename
value and no file is uploaded, althought the directory structure is
created. I dont get any error message at all. Can suggest someway to
troubleshoot this problem as i don''t want to delve into plugin code.
Help much appreciated. Si.

Samba Trusts Relationship - Users map
Sirs,
I am studying about the Samba servers and I am with a doubt.
I have achieved to configure the trust relationship between two servers, althought I could only log users that would exist in those two domains (trusting and thrusted).
Observing the logs I have noticed that Samba could not authenticate the users that were not common, because it could not create a users locally.
Using the chmod a+s at the archive /usr/sbin/useradd I could make...

Does 'Domain Users' have a gidNumber inside '10000-9999999'

In the past we have considered remote DOS type attacks to be a security
issue. In this case people discount it saying if the user has physical
access then it's game over anyway. Althought not as serious as privilege
escalation bugs I would have to say that mounting a user's USB drive
shouldn't allow the system to crash. How about something to force a fsck
before allowing the mount? Would that always catch it?

Samba User password problem
...to be
a domain controler for a small network of 5 PCs, each of them running WinXP
Pro SP2.
I have read and followed all the instructions on Samba's site and have
generated machine trust accounts and usernames/passwords for the users of
the local net. There is no firewall installed on Ubuntu.
Althought I have done this task a few times by now for various networks, the
odd thing about this installation is that the passwords that the users use
keep "reseting", meaning that although I set the passwords for them with
smbpasswd -a username and then input their passwords and the users do not...
