Parsing status.xsl
Thanks for the tip on those scripts. They're exactly what I've been looking for for a number of years now. Althogh the first one doesn't seem to be online anymore. If anyone's willing to send it to me, I'd love to host it for anyone else that would like to download it in the future. Dynamic Text Replacement
I noticed there are a lot of PHP based dynamic text replacement examples out there such as: http://artypapers.com/csshelppile/pcdtr/ Is there anything like this for Ruby / Rails? I know there''s always SiFR but that method is often frustrating because I''ve noticed significant slow down in page load time even on pages that use it sparingly.

RH7.2 journal creation
Stephen et al, You may remember me raising the point that the new e2fsprogs (1.25 as I remember) griped about old journals not having all the appropriate fields zeroed. I've just discovered that the RH 7.2 installer produces journals (ie on partitions created as ext3 from within the installer) that flag these warnings with a modified 1.25 e2fsck (the mods being to clear the errors rather

When CentOS 6 arrives ...
What is the best way to install CentOS 6? Is there an upgrade facility from CentOS-5.6? If so, how does this compare with a clean installation? -- Timothy Murphy e-mail: gayleard /at/ eircom.net tel: +353-86-2336090, +353-1-2842366 s-mail: School of Mathematics, Trinity College, Dublin 2, Ireland

Insights on SIP channel usage in * 1.2.7.1 are welcome!
...t I wasn't able to dial out on the SIP channel _whenever_ I started Asterisk (i.e. not just when the box was booted). I always had to do a reload from the CLI before it would work. Using Ethereal I noticed that there seemed to be some trouble resolving my ITSP's hostname sip.unlimitel.ca (althogh I cannot explain why it would _always_ start working after a reload) so I ended replacing the hostname sip.unlimitel.ca with the actual IP address (64.26.157.251). Not pretty but at least I can call out now. BTW adding: sip.unlimitel.ca 64.26.157.251 to hosts didn't help. I'd be gra...

Parsing status.xsl
hi i work for a non-for-profit broadcaster and we use Icecast to serve a number of community radio stations - and it does a great job. i'd like to parse or edit the status.xsl file into a series of files that only show information for one mountpoint or station at a time. i have no idea of XSL syntax but looking at /usr/share/icecast/content/status.xsl i see the following statement pair:

Protocol for answering basic questions
I have been following the discussions on 'Reasons not to answer very basic questions in a straightforward way' with interest as someone who is also new to R and has had similar experiences. As such it with sadness that I note that most seem to agree with the present approach to the responses to basic questions. I must thank those respondants to my own questions who have been helpful, but

My story installing Samba-LDAP PDC (it has a happy ending)
...t I know they are set with smbpasswd -a. The example that comes with SLH says the following about the three accounts: Administrator: uidNumber: 506 --- I asume this can be any number not equal to 0 gidNumber: 0 --- maybe because the posixGroup 0 should be previosly mapped to sambaGroup rid 512, althogh this is not written anywhere. Is this true? sambaSID: a number that ends with 500 (I really don't know if this is truly necessary, but it DOES NOT come from the formula given above). sambaPrimaryGroupSID: must end with 512 (to indicate it belongs to the Domain Admins group, I assume). sambaAcct...
