alsamixer and multiple audio cards
When I run kmix, there is a drop-down box in the upper right corner that lets me choose the audio device that kmix will be adjusting. If, however, I try to use alsamixer instead of kmix, there is only one (default) device that I can adjust. How can I tell to alsamixer that I want to adjust the volume of another card? And yes, this is related to my system-config-soundcard question... :-) Best, :-) Marko

a dedicated audio encoder
...Doesn't draw much power, but maybe you need a hub's extra capacitors to prevent spikes from causing problems at the pi. Of course, I suppose using it through a powered hub such as the PiHUB should also work. The only thing I kinda missed was a recording level control. The only control alsamixer is giving me, is the pcm playback level. So you'd have to make sure the audio you send to it is somehow sane. Ssoundblaster audigy and alsamixer
I have an interesting problem. I have no sound through the sound card, but I can use the onboard sound ok. The reason I have no sound is that the slider for "audigy analog/digital output jack" is missing in the gnome mixer. The label is there, and a mute box are there, but no sliders. When I bring up alsa mixer in the console, there is a box for a slider, but no slider.

I have tried, as suggested in previous mails, raising the sound level of line in and mic with amixer, alsamixer, aumix, kmix, gmix, etc. I still can`t get to stream audio from line-in but I got to stream noise to my Icecast Server! no snd-hda-codec.ko in CentOS 5.3 is that ok ?
Hello, When I was running CentOS 5.2 (and other Liuux distribution) on an Asus W2J laptop, I never get sound. I upgraded to CentOS 5.3. Now the sound card is recognized and plays the test sounds. I checked channels with alsamixer, mix, kamix .... I still have no sound using aplay alsa command or whatever else audio display. Trying to check my configuration I discovered that the snd-hda-codec.ko is missing : modprobe -l | grep hda gives /lib/modules/2.6.18-128.1.10.el5/kernel/drivers/hwmon/hdaps.ko /lib/modules/2.6.18-...

Skype on CentOS 5 - my microphone settings are incorrect
Note: The Wiki for Skype needs a tiny update. http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Skype It's not a Beta now. Last night, I downloaded and installed skype-2.0.0.63-centos.i586.rpm The Skype web site calls this a "Gold" release. I'm having the same problem I had when I tried to use the Skype Beta. It's not picking up audio from the microphone. The hardware works fine, when I'm

Another system with no sound
...: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01) On some systems, the sounds is working fine, and on others it's not. It's not a sound controller issue, as I've got sound working on multiple systems with each controller. I've checked the settings in alsamixer and the master is not muted. As far as I can tell, all systems are configured similarly (they were build via kickstart and maintained up-to-date with "yum update" periodically). Here is some info from a system on which sound is working: # lspci | egrep -i 'audio|sound|snd|alsa...

Sound failure in CentOS 6.8
Sound stopped working on my CentOS 6.8 system several months ago. I've tried everything I can to find out what's wrong. It is not the hardware; if I boot into a live dvd of 6.8 (or any other OS), the sound works perfectly. So something must have changed in my configuration. I've compared files on my system and another CentOS 6.8 system with working sound and I haven't found
