4k sector support in Solaris 11?
If I want to use a batch of new Seagate 3TB Barracudas with Solaris 11, will zpool let me create a new pool with ashift=12 out of the box or will I need to play around with a patched zpool binary (or the iSCSI loopback)? -- Dave Pooser Manager of Information Services Alford Media http://www.alfordmedia.com

SAS vs SATA: Same size, same speed, why SAS?
...#39;m going to be using three 8-drive RAIDz2 configurations, and further assuming this server will be used for backing up home directories (lots of small writes/reads), how much benefit will I see from the SAS interface? -- Dave Pooser, ACSA Manager of Information Services Alford Media http://www.alfordmedia.com

Good SLOG devices?
Hi I''m running OpenSolaris 148 on a few boxes, and newer boxes are getting installed as we speak. What would you suggest for a good SLOG device? It seems some new PCI-E-based ones are hitting the market, but will those require special drivers? Cost is obviously alsoo an issue here.... Performance drop during scrub?
Hi all I have a test system with snv134 and 8x2TB drives in RAIDz2 and currently no Zil or L2ARC. I noticed the I/O speed to NFS shares on the testpool drops to something hardly usable while scrubbing the pool. How can I address this? Will adding Zil or L2ARC help? Is it possible to tune down scrub''s priority somehow? Best regards roy -- Roy Sigurd Karlsbakk (+47) 97542685 roy at
