Being Administrator on a Samba Domain
Hello all:
I am in the process of implementing a Samba Primary Domain controller
and I have a few questions that I can't yet resolve.
First off, how can I set it so that when I log in to a computer on
the domain as my username, "ajc", that I gain Administrator rights
to that PC?
Second, in Windows 2000 Pro I almost always go into Start>Settings>Control
Panels>Administrative Tools>Local Security Policy and change some
of the default policies. Is there someway that when the computers
log into the Domain th...

CTDB and locking issues in 4.4.6 (Classic domain)
Hi Ralph,
I applied the patch to a new build of Sernet 4.4.6 SRPM. I could still
open the file from both hosts, and in fact this time I could actually
open it on the same host without any problems:

...any problems:
I don't see where you're opening the file twice from one smbclient
below. Am I missing something?
And then there's no need to use an xls file, simply create an empty
file in the root of the share with `touch file` and use that.

Can anyone answer or at least point me in a good direction? I'm about to
break out my sniffer and start looking at packets.

CTDB and locking issues in 4.4.6 (Classic domain)
> *phew*! At least it's not a regression by the patches for bug 12005.
Hi Ralph,
Looking back through the changelogs suggests to me that it's been around
a long time....
I did however find it odd that even after disabling the 3rd host,
stopping ctdb everywhere and removing *all* the db files (including
persistent) I still could reproduce on 4.4.5.

CForest Error Logical Subscript Too Long
...got (9) to fewer, say the 5 most important ones? Hence I imagined Random Forests would be a good idea. However I get the error given above. Is it possible to smarten up the code and correct the error? Or has anybody got other ideas of how I can reduce the amount of factors I have?
Kind regards,

Date column in downloaded date
Hi All:
If I download yahoo data by getSymbols() in R, the date column gets
accompanied along with the downloaded data. There is no column header for
the date column to access separately.
What is the way to eliminate the date column?
If I want to draw a xy scatter plot with the downloaded price (suppose AAPL
vs NASDAQ), I think the date column is creating problem and the plot
function is not

Data handling/optimum glm method.
...null model and to work up to the optimum one?
I am importing a csv file with 3500 rows and 27 columns (3500x27 matrix).
My second question: is there anyway to increase the memory I have so R can cope with more analysis?
I can send my code if it would help to answer the question.
Kind regards,
AJC

How to improve, at all, a simple GLM code
...e any more into consideration (e.g. if I did C3~A1*B2*D4*E5*F6*G7), R stops responding/I have to force quit. Why is this? How can I get around it as I need to include all 27 columns?
Any advice or constructive criticism is appreciated - even if it means I have to start from scratch.
Many Thanks,
AJC?

Importing an Excel file
Hello, R users,
I am a very beginner of R and tried read.csv to import an excel file after
saving an excel file as csv. But it added alternating rows of fictitious NA
values after row number 16. When I applied read.delim, there were trailing
several commas at the end of each row after row number 16 instead of NA
values. Appreciate your help.

a problem: factors, names, tables ..
Hi all,
I am *completely* lost in trying to solve a relatively simple task.
I want to compute the relative number of occurences of an event, the data
of which sits in a large table (read from file).
I have the occurences of the events in a table 'tt'
0 2 10 11 13 14 15
15 6 1 3 8 15 10
.. meaning that event of type '0' occurs 15 times, type '2' occurs 6 times
