[Bug 478] Kernel panic - not syncing: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!

------- Additional Comments From kaber@trash.net 2006-05-22 09:32 MET -------
The exact same problem was reported on LKML, also with 2.6.16.13 and Xen. Since
we've had no reports of similar problems without Xen, I doubt that the problem
really is within the netfilter code, especially since we haven't had any problems

kernel panic with ext3 and cbq
Hello,
I'm usign Kernel 2.2.19 with ext3 0.0.7b patches. I'm also
using cbq to control bandwidth. The cbq is correctly creating
the classes and queueing disciplines but, whenever I call cbq stop
I get a kernel panic:
> Aiee, killing interrupt handler
> Kernel panic: Attempted to kill idle task!
> In interrupt handler - not syncing
The exact line in cbq script that is causing the problem is that:
tc qdisc del dev eth0 root &> /dev/null
I also tried with ext3 0.0.6b and I have the same problem.

I am wondering whether i add something in the interrupt handler, but i have not

Oh, can anyone tell me?
Thanks

we are able to log in, after a lag of ~10 seconds, we see the load

As I am writing this, it just went down again. The console had a bunch

card by default, so I need to download & compile the driver the vendor
provides. I did so (for the kernel 2.6.12.6-xen0) and generated an
initrd image which gets loaded properly at bootime, but whenever the
3w-9xxx.ko module is loaded it all I get in addition to a bunch of dump
is ''Aiee, killing interrupt handler...'' and my boot process gets stuck.
Any ideas how I can compile a third party driver to support my ARCH=xen
kernel and the Hypervisor ''underneath'' it? Is it feasible at all?
Thanks for any hints and suggestions.

rsync windows -> unix still hanging :(
I spent about 12 hours today writing a nice backup system based on
Mike Rubel's snapshot system; but much to my dismay, when I took it
for a test drive, I found that rsync hung on the first large directory
I tried to back up. Aiee!
A few web searches later, I realized that a lot of folks have seen this
problem. I saw one proposed fix...
http://sources.redhat.com/ml/cygwin/2002-09/msg01155.html
This fix is in rsync 2.5.5-2, but rsync still hangs for me. I'm able to
sync a smaller directory but this larger one fai...

HTB/IMQ troubles (probably)
Hello,
I use HTB with linux-2.4.20-ac1 and iptables-1.2.7a (pathced for IMQ).
I configured one HTB qdisc on an IMQ device. This qdisc has some classes
(about 5) and all of the classes has qdisc pfifo.
I sometimes got out from my linux (while I was working) and I found in
logs:
Dec 4 11:49:27 core kernel: HTB init, kernel part version 3.7
Dec 4 11:49:28 core kernel: HTB: quantum of class

[Bridge] Bridge Problem with RedHat and iptables
...re. I wrote you a mail earlier
also regarding this.
1. I am trying to run the bridge mode over Redhat 7.3 (kernel 2.4.18).
I tried the latest version of brdige mode utility and also I tried
version 0.94 as well. But whenever I run the brdige mode on this
kernel - the kernel goes panic saying "aiee - killing interrupt
handler". Now I am in a crutial situation here. We are building a
product based on kernel version 2.4.18 and running on Redhat 7.3 - and
we have to setup bridge mode on the machine. But due to this problem
we are not able to do that. So please help me what is the problem he...
