VoIP providers -- California, U.S.
Hi,
Just wondering if people could suggest a good VoIP provider that can
service the San Francisco Bay Area and the Los Angeles area. I've tried
race.com (recommended to me) but they're kind of hard to get ahold of.
Any other suggestions? This is for a business, so reliability is key.
I did see the recent thread about this, and while I saw a few mentioned,
I didn't see anything about how reliable the different vendors are, or
whether people are using them for business or personal use.
Thanks!

Really Weird Question.....
So I just got ahold of an old e-Machine (Model EL1600) with 1GB of
memory. I was going to install CEntOS on it and try to run VirtualBox
for other OS'es. I am curious to know if I have to stick with the 2GB
"max" the specs say the machine can take or if its possible to install a
4GB module that is de...

I'm trying to put an end to the spam at least and the built-in stuff for

B.) Even if that setting resolves said issue or not - what can I do to get
some communication open for testing so we don't have to purchase X product
because of a simple fix or setting change. I'd be more than happy to get
ahold of some developers at this place to get some kind of a dialog set up.
It _should_ be in their best intrest to get interoprability going with samba
as we aren't the only customer running it with thier products.

Silly questions due to ingrained knowledge of analog phone use.
...how they work from a users point of view.
For instance, we have 10 lines here. I'd someone calls for me, the person who
answered the phone puts them on hold, intecoms me at my desk, if I'm not
there he "all pages" me (announcement via speaker on all unused phones). If
he gets ahold of me he tells me that so-and-so is on line X, and I can either
pick up line X or tell him to put him into my voice mail. How would that
sequance go if I had an astrisk PBX and IP phones everywhere? I need to wrap
my brain around the concepts of *using* IP phones before I can go and think

Avaya 9640 Convert to SIP (slightly off topic)
Hi List,
Ive got a bunch of Avaya IP9640 that we want to convert to SIP and then hook
up to Asterisk so we can dump this overpriced Avaya system. Ive got ahold of
the SIP firmware, but I cannot find anything on how to convert the phone
itself to SIP, when I go into setup mode it wants a "command" which im
guessing is the program code like the rest of the Avaya systems works. Has
anyone been able to convert this to SIP and if so, any suggestions...

Fast Cygwin binaries ?
...ne, but was still thinking about
the second.) Using scp, it takes less than an hour to move the two files.
These binaries have big sections that never change, so I would expect better
performance.
I read in the archives that somebody has a faster binary version floating
around. How might I get ahold of it? (If you have it, would it be possible
to e-mail me a copy?)
Thanks!

Intel/64 CentOS VM running on a Mac M1?

keep productivity up. I've been unable to officially confirm that VMWare/
Parallels/VirtualBox intend to support IA64 based OS's and it *needs* to be an

roll out.
Calling around, I actually got ahold of a sales staff at Parallels who assured
me (in broken India-accent English) that "of course all OS will supported when
the trial complete" but given that I wasn't sure that he really understood my
question I remain uncertain.
Anybody here have any more information than I do?

We're using Icecast and Ices.

[LLVMdev] updated code size comparison

trivial to come up with similar examples based on shifts, multiplies and
divides, etc.
A potential solution is "under-constrained execution":

I will bug Dawson and Daniel and see if I can get ahold of some code for
this.

[llvm] Query the target from an opt pass?
...yering, though. Having an "optimization" pass be
looking into specific types of SDNode doesn't seem ideal. But I need to
introduce branches, and I don't think I can do that in the SelectionDAG.
Branches in the middle of a basic block seems ... incorrect. Is there a
good way to get ahold of the correct TargetLoweringBase from a pass? But
there's still the layering issue, no?
Oh, and sorry for the top posting. This is the email client I'm stuck with.

Interdependency between RSpec files
I run my suite of tests, one test fails.
I run that one test file, no tests fail.
Something is carrying over between files and I can''t figure out what.
I tracked down the problem to the very line it''s occurring on, with
printouts before and after every call to make sure I know exactly what
is being reached.
In this spec I have 0 fixtures/mocks/stubs. The objects in this

Kickstart-based Install, editing comps.xml, hdlist/hdlist2
Hello, all -
I've been throwing the question around on the kickstart-list for the
last few days here, and can't quite get ahold of things. Please, allow
me to explain.
I am in the process of making a custom CentOS/RHEL kickstart install.
It works well right now; however, it's a hackjob, and I am not
comfortable with it as of yet.
For the past few days, I've even gone as far as making a custom
comps.xml file, for...

Write pure sine to *.ogg directly?
Hello,
I am author of a Morse code training software written
in Perl at http://starling.ws/morse
Currently I output to *.wav and, if on Unix, convert to
*.ogg. And that's okay for a trainer.
But I have desire to upgrade the project to a real-time
communication tool...or at least a Morse code audio
mail routine. And I should like to avoid *.wav.
I'd like some means of writing a pure

when I threatened to leave would someone suddenly pop up and answer my
concerns.
They claim to have been changing bandwidth providers (away from rockynet, or
at least companies that peer with Cogent), but traceroutes show they are
still with them. So far, when I've actually gotten ahold of a tech support
person, they have told me to try different addresses for the server.
They've changed recently from voip.teliax.com to ast01.teliax.com to
voip-co1.teliax.com. Guess what? All the same server. Its just more of
the same runaround.
Since the day I switched to VoIP (with Telia...
