Using rsync without the deamon works fine.
I tried to debug it a little bit, but I am unable to figure out what's
wrong.

Running Win32 application from wine
Hi,
I would like to use Wine on gentoo for utilization of commercial
software that our company uses. Unfortunately only copying the home
directory does not seem to be sufficient, because after copying some
dll libraries that program desired it returns problem with
insufficient installed program. I tried to install it from original
cd, but after the main graphic screen, it just shows Setup wizard

Expected performance for WORM scenario
Well, it might be close to the _synchronous_ nfs, but it is still well behind of the asynchronous nfs performance.
Simple script (bit extreme I know, but helps to draw the picture):
#!/bin/csh
set HOSTNAME=`/bin/hostname`
set j=1
while ($j <= 7000)
echo ahoj > test.$HOSTNAME.$j
@ j++
end
rm -rf test.$HOSTNAME.*
Takes 9 seconds to execute on the NFS share, but 90 seconds on GlusterFS ? i.e. 10 times slower.

Are there any Czech people using Rails?
Hello,
how do you solve the problems with czech characters? Do you use unicode
or ISO-8859-2/WIN1250? How do use methods like String:upcase etc. that
dont use czech characters?
I would appreciate any hints for this.
Thanks,
David Marko

Asymmetric load balancing
I have three Icecast-2.0.0 servers up with possibly more coming online.
I am trying to figure out how to do more intelligent load balancing
between the three.
Problem: There are bandwidth restrictions at a couple of the locations.
Current Solution: Round-robin DNS (with very low TTL) and a restriction on
the number of listeners on the servers where bandwidth is an issue.
I am finding this

GetText: Works with en_GB and en_US, but doesn''t with de_DE!
Hi all
I''m trying to get GetText to work. I have the following folder
structure:
|-myapp.pot
|-de_DE/:
| `-myapp.po
|-en_GB/:
| `-myapp.po
|-en_US/:

I run rake updatepo, and then rake makemo.
Now I set en-gb as default language in Firefox and run my app >> works!

It is bad compared to a disk filesystem but I believe it is much closer to
NFS now.

Looking at your workload, I am suspecting there to be lot of LOOKUPs
