Trouble with Windows 2000 sp3
...uring the
compilation process. When I try to go into Windows Explorer and delete the
file, I get an error message that another process is using the file. I can
delete the file without a problem from my Linux machine, and then I can
usually resume compilation on the Windows box, but this is very aggrivating
as we have a large project.
Usually the only way to resolve this problem is to reboot the Windows machine,
but some of Microsofts latest critical updates seem to have made THAT not
even work.
Anyway, I have tried getting the Linux admin to disable oplocks, with this set
of commands:

SWAT vs. idealx
Has anyone else had problems with SWAT borking your smb.conf file if you
specify your smb.conf scripts section like idealx suggests? For example:
add machine script = /usr/local/sbin/smbldap-useradd -w "%u"
When I save that from SWAT, I lose the script parameters inside quotes.
This caused me some aggrivation this morning when I thought everything
else worked just fine but the

rsync digest, Vol 1 #778 - 11 msgs
...ync --daemon I can prompt it for a list of modules, but
when I go to copy a module, I get the error @ERROR: setgroups failed.
I can copy locally, from one HD to another, but I can't get it to copy
over the network, even using the sudo rsync ipaddress:/Filename / method.
So it's been kind of aggrivating. I'm thinking it has to do with the fact
that rsync needs to be run locally, and you're running it from a remote
server... If there's a way to trick the system into thinking that the
rsync daemon is running as root on the local machine, that would be ideal.
Unfortunately, I don't kn...

rsync 2.5.5 and Mac OS X
Greetings,
Has anyone successfully compiled rsync 2.5.5 under Mac OS X (not
Server), and actually have it work fully?
I'm in a position where I'm trying to setup an automated nightly remote
backup between and Cobalt Raq4 (running a variant of Redhat Linux) and a
Mac running OS X 10.1.5 with the latest development tools installed. As
has been pointed out previously on the list, one has

OpenSSH Authentication on Solaris w/ NIS+ Problem
Hello,
I am having a very aggrivating problem, and I will try and provide all of the necessary information. I have openssh-3.7.1p2 with openssl-0.9.6k installed on Solaris 8. Here is what I've been able to determine so far:
1. Local account authentication works fine (non-NIS+).
1a. NIS+ is running at security level 2
2. Telnet a...

VoicePulse Connect 4 Channel Limit?
Does anyone know what happens if you try to have 5 concurrent outgoing
channels with VoicePulse Connect? Does it give you an error message or a
reorder or something? I'm worried about using them as my primary carrier if
this is the case.
I noticed that they supposedly only allow 4 channels for free and then you
have to pay $20 a month extra per channel. I'm guessing this is for inbound
