Fail2ban
I have fail2ban working for EVERYTHING else except dovecot. I have tried
using my own custom regex in conjunction with the regex on the
dovecot.org site. Neither are picked up by fail2ban and I'm trying to
use an imminent attack agaist dovecot, going on now, to my advantage to
see when I get the right regexp. Here are my current ones:
failregex = .*dovecot: (?:pop3-login|imap-login):
(?:Disconnected|Aborted login) \((?:auth failed, .* attempts|no auth
attempts)\):.*rip=<HOST>,.* <<< this is my custom...

Does raidzN actually protect against bitrot? If yes - how?
...d" detected
errors. So I have a set of questions here, outlined below...
(DISCLAIMER: I haven''t finished reading through on-disk
format spec in detail, but that PDF document is 5 years
old anyway and I''ve heard some things have changed).
1) How does raidzN protect agaist bit-rot without known full
death of a component disk, if it at all does?
Or does it only help against "loud corruption" where the
disk reports a sector-access error or dies completely?
2) Do the "leaf blocks" (on-disk sectors or ranges of sectors

[PATCH] virtio-spec: correct wording

change tracking in the document at this stage? Rusty?
The patches are agaist initial version from here:

Alternative Auth Methods.
hi,
Are there any alternative authentication methods for Samba? Other
thank the smbpasswd file? I'd like to do PostgreSQL or mySQL. Why?
Because I can do Exim/IMAP/POP3 Apache/Zope with SQL, if I could do
Samba it would wrap it up into one nice DB for authentication.
It does not have to be much, just the ability to get the data from
a SQL query rather than a flat file query.

Modprobe Zaptel
Hi,
Can someone walk me through compiling and loading the Zaptel 1.2.10 driver for Mandriva 2006 kernel 2.6.12-12? When I compile and attempt a modprobe I get "module zaptel not found"
Thanks
Julian

Hm, I thought one of the repositories failing due to failing SSL is the
webtatic one.
From your posting today 12:03 CEST:
* webtatic: uk.repo.webtatic.com
Anyhow, a test agaist "epel" would work too as it is configured to use a
https target as well.
URLGRABBER_DEBUG=1 yum --disablerepo=\* --enablerepo=epel update
Please check this too: rpm -Vv nss

ZFS and Linux
Hello,
I believe that ZFS and it''s concepts is truly revolutionary to the
point that I no longer see any OS as modern if it does not have
comparable storage functionality. Therefore I think that file
system/disk manager with similar qualities should be written for Linux.
Does Sun have plans to dual license ZFS as GPL so it can be ported to
native Linux?
If not, is it legal to write

Which PAM patch? If its one of the various things I have written it
would be advisable to contact me off-list to see which particuar version
you have, and which partiular state of brokenness it was in :-) Note
that I was testing agaist the moving SAMBA_2_2 branch, not the 2.2.0
release. If the patch was by another author it I would like to know, as
I didn't think anybody else was looking at this area (beside the samba
team, and they just patch the tree directly).
