...es that
indicate that Redhad would be a preferred distro to use?
What are people's experience around here that run large (20k plus
listener) icecast setups? What hardware / OSs do you use and why?
Also, can icecast relay WMA9? We decided to go with the Spacial Audio
SOS product to deal with AFTRA requirements, and it supports encoding
to mp3, mp3pro, WMA9, and OGG - is it much of a headache to have an
icecast server be able to relay mp3 and WMA9 streams at the same time?
Thanks for your help

money is green they want it.
I believe it is AFTRA that has raised a stink about webcasting
commercials, many stations have either pulled their webcasts or have
silenced their webcasts when AFTRA artists provide the voice over. This
in particular applies to national ads, ie for GM, IBM, or some other major
company w/ a nationwide push. The point...

DMCA and webcasting
Last year I arranged with my college radio station and ITS department to
webcast the radiostation using icecast. The webcast has been a wonderful
success so far. My problem now is not technical, but political. A few days
ago I recieved the following message from the station director:

MP3 decoding, fading and streaming at the same time
Hi There,
I have just ported to Linux a program that I wrote years ago in Prolog
under DOS to automate our Shortwave radio station. Back in 1990 the
original program used ADPCM coded audio files and a special board. Now I
can use MP3 files and a Soundblaster compatible card ;-) under Linux, and
it runs from a console without any fancy interface. I absolutely need to
