is there something peculiar about a render :update block ?
...where if I had many method calls within that block things didn''t work as expected and variables would not have values I expected. I know I am not being very specific and I don''t have an example. I am trying to refactor some code where I have alot of code inside the block and I am affraid I am going to have the same sort of problem I used to have previously when I had written alot of RJS stuff previously. render :update do |page| ... end -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group. function optimization
Dear all, this is my first time, and just begin to use R. But I've a question about optimization using optimx library. It could sound stupid by I'm a bit affraid with the problem, because anything I try, anything Error. The procedure was: optimx(par="10,71,1",fn=(Prey*Provisioning)/Risk, control=list("maximize)) well the problem lies in the initial value parameters, again and again, R tells me that it is not possible to optimize the functio...

IIS cache and change notify timeout...
...ntent to change... BUT!!! But when I don't wait 5 seconds en keep refreshing/requesting the page every 2 seconds, the content never changes?!?! Only when I stop refreshing for at least the time set as the change notify timeout, the content will be updated... Any advice on this? If not I'm affraid I'll have to set the change notify timeout to 1 second which is quit costly for my system (if I understand correctly that is)... Regards, Sander

An example: if we do not stop sendmail were rsync'ing can we be sure that the queues on the replica machine are in a consisten state ? same for dhcpd leases or squid's cache ? We would really like to leave all those important services up but we are really affraid of producing a corrupted replica... can anyone comment on this ? is rsync imune to this kind of problem ? thank you very much. Chromatogram deconvolution and peak matching
...rent methods are used and spectra comes in to play. While searching I found the ALS package which should be usefull for my application, but I couldn't figure it out. I made some dummy chroms with R, which mimic my actual datasets, to play with, but after looking at the manuals of ALS, I'm affraid I can't get the job done. Can someone put me on the right way? Here is my code to generate the dummy chroms, which also plots the 2 chroms and the spectra of the 3 peaks: #2D chromatogram generation par(mfrow=c(3,1)) time <- seq(0,20,by=0.05) f <- function(x,rt) dnorm((x-rt),mean=0,sd=r...

Centos 5.1 distro: How to upgrade 5.0 to 5.1 with yum??
Hi, Redhat announced RHEL 5.1 on Nov 07, so hopefully CentOS 5.1 will be ready shortly. But I get kind of nervous of the arrival of 5.1. My problem is: I have hundreds Centos 5.0 boxes just finished installation and I will continue to install and upgrade hundreds more in next few months. With the arrival of Centos 5.1, I don't like to reinstall them anymore but continuous upgrade instead

pam_ldap + nss_ldap, su(1), group wheel and pam_group
...LDAP), because `id' uses getgroups(2), but su(1) refuses user, because it uses getgrnam(3), which found group "wheel" in /etc/grousp, where user doesn't belong to group "wheel" :( Is here any `standard' solution to this problem? I know about sudo(8), but I affraid, that this inconsistency could bite somewhere else, and in any case, I want su(1) to work :) Is here any reasons why pam_group(8) is inconsistent with id(1) in way to determine ti which groups user belongs? -- // Black Lion AKA Lev Serebryakov <lev@FreeBSD.org>
