Bug?
Almighty Repo Maintainers, I believe the current repository version of Xen for Lenny stable may be afflicted with this bug, which prevents domUs from shutting down/rebooting properly. http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-devel/2009-01/msg00050.html What say you? First Wine use ever: problems in running Broken Sword 3
Hi there everybody! I am completely new to linux and it's the first time I'm running linux (Ubuntu). Today I installed Wine and tried running Broken Sword 3 (note that I have nto configured Wine or anything: only installed and used the wine command). All I can see is a black screen (semms like the application tries to run) and the I return to desktop with an 800x600 resolution. What should

certname=hostname SSL errors
Hi all, I ran into the following problem: Until now, i used fqdn as certname (i.e. had no certname defined in puppet.conf, so defaults applied) and everything worked fine. However, I wanted to use tthe short hostname as certname, so I redeployed the puppet.conf file, re-generated the certificates and signed them, and removed the old certificates from the master. Now I have the following status:

X11 font at size 6 could not be loaded
...iso10646-1 -adobe-helvetica-bold-o-normal--11-80-100-100-p-60-iso8859-1 If I run the same program on my Fedora 8 system but use an X server on a Windows PC (Hummingbird X server), I have no problem. If I can't fix this, this is a disaster for me because some of the most common things I do are afflicted by this problem. Can anyone help me get adobe-helvetica 6 and 8 point fonts onto my system or give any other advice? Thanks very much. -Ben p.s., I also tried in R options(X11fonts="-misc-fixed-%s-%s-*-*-%d-*-*-*-*-*-*-*") but that resulted in Error in X11(display, width, height, point...

SYSLINUX doing odd things since upgrade
...latest version (3.60) from whatever was installed (I think 3.54). I also updated MEMDISK and MENU.C32 at the same time. SYSLINUX still boots to the prompt, but loading MENU.C32 either freezes, reboots the PC or - on one occasion - complains of a corrupted kernel image. MEMDISK is similarly afflicted, as it successfully loads a compressed disk image but freezes at "loading boot sector". I have tried downgrading to every version of SYSLINUX, MENU.C32 and MEMDISK to 3.51, and even tried 3.35 out of desperation. Even formatting and setting everything up from scratch as I have done...

The repodata directory is currently broken on several, if not all, mirrors for the 6.5 iso files
The repodata directory on all 6.5 isos that I have sampled have an issue where the file names don't have extensions resulting in a yum repo error on installation just after disk partitioning. This error prompts you with the choice between either allowing you choose another repo or to exit the installer. I remedied this issue with the following: [root at testserv /root/test/centos]$ find

2 part question
Is there a way to record your own voice messages ("Welcome to my PBX, Press 1 for ...") using asterisk and an analog phone, or do they need to be recorded using traditional voice recording software? Also, I am confused as to why my replies to the message board are never indented. Call this the ultimate newbie question, but how should the reply be worded so that I don't screw up

Why is my kernel eating my memory
Can someone, more learned in the ways of dtrace point me at what to look at to help understand why the kernel on one machine is using tons of memory, while another machine doing the same task/same user load is not. swapinfo for the "afflicted" machine shows RAM _______Total 16384 Mb RAM Unusable 73 Mb RAM Kernel 9226 Mb RAM Locked 2 Mb RAM Used 2692 Mb RAM Avail 4389 Mb While the second "unsick" machine shows RAM _______Total 16384 Mb RAM Unusable 73 Mb RAM...

Tyan K8WE BIOS v1.03 and -STABLE
I tried updating the BIOS on my K8WE (S2895) yesterday to 1.03, but after the update, FreeBSD (RELENG_6 dated March 26) would randomly freeze after booting. As I was updating from v1.01, I suspect it may be the updates to the nVidia SATA firmware that caused the issue, as things generally froze shortly after the background fsck processed kicked in (with, obviously, the exception of the first

...that are about empirical probability. If you can find the time, send me some information on these two problems, because I haven't even been able to get started good, I am so confused. TreeCtrl#get_item_data
Hi I saw from the ChangeLog that [get|set]_client_data was removed from ComboBox for 0.4.0 because the methods weren''t working properly. TreeCtrl#get_item_data still seems to be there. I was wondering if someone who understood the issue could say if TreeItemData might also be afflicted with the same problems? I seem to be segfaulting quite a bit (actually, on TreeEvt#get_item), but it disappears when I don''t use item_data. The methods are easy enough to fake in pure Ruby, so I don''t want to spend time chasing something I can work around. By the way, Zach, like...

scale factors/overdispersion in GLM: possible bug?
I've been poking around with GLMs (on which I am *not* an expert) on behalf of a student, particularly binomial (standard logit link) nested models with overdispersion. I have one possible bug to report (but I'm not confident enough to be *sure* it's a bug); one comment on the general inconsistency that seems to afflict the various functions for dealing with overdispersion in GLMs

ath(4) and 802.11g speed
So, with the updated HAL, I'm now able to negotiate an IP address via DHCP over the WLAN. Huzzah! But I've got two questions (now that I can use the card): ath(4) doesn't contain a list of media nor mediaopt settings that can be used. Some are detailed down in EXAMPLES, but there's no comprehensive list. (As well, and this is minor, the speeds are explicitly listed for 802.11a
