Trouble accessing to shortcuts and Writing to Shares in Windows XP (Samba 3.0.22)
...ximated translation). If you access the shared drive via the explorer and then double click it just works. It's very annoying for most of our users. ** When working with WINZIP I open a Zip file, then try to extract it to the network drive, I get more or less the same message. Everything works afetr accesing the file from the explorer. Same situation with word. Any help will be appreciated.

memcached and Joe Hosteny''s Salted Hash Login Generator
Hey, so - I''ve been fiddling about and fell in to use Joe''s simple-yet- painful SHLG (I shouldn''t complain... not at least I have time to produce one :)). I just recently plugged in memcache, and- it''s not preserving my login. I traced the execution and it sets the output of User.authenticate (a user AR object) into @session[''user'']

winbindd losing track of RFC2307 UIDs
Hi all, I've been experiencing an intermittent problem where some UIDs on a member server spontaneously change from being their AD-derived values to being allocated from the default idmap space, even when there is no change to the AD user information. Specifically, I have a member server running Samba 4.4.5 on CentOS 6.8. AD service is provided by two Samba 4.4.5 servers. The member

The fix was to delete the mappings in idmap.tdb. On an member server you can use net idmap set/get/dump to test this.
