Migration to samba4 ad and sync to openldap.
I managed to do migration using "classicupgrade".
Doing tests with debian buster 2:4.9.4+dfsg-4.
For the moment using samba internal dns and sub-domain of ad.advocap.org.
Had issue forwarding dns if I used main domain.
When it comes to real production will use bind that I understand better
but don't want to mess with my other dns servers now.
Had a w10 box join samba4 ad controller so it's a promising start :-)
From w10 all looks good..

Slow windows network with gplpv driver.
Have 4 xen servers with windows domains.
2 work OK and 2 have xp domains with slow network performance.
Doing most of the testing on a xen system that currently is not in production.
Running xen 4.0 with 2.6.32 kernel from lenny backports.
Have xp service pack3 freshly installed with no updates.
Installed gplpv gplpv_XP_0.11.0.213.msi
hdtack gives 60mb/sec which is good
iperf gives ~15Mbits/sec

...from kerberos -> ldap.
May switch to kerberos for authentication at some point.
I have set up a lab environment to test migration.
I have not seen any cook book solutions.
Ready test migration but not sure what to do next.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

xfs problems with xen3.1 on domu
...ome
/dev/sda6 3135488 308 3135180 1% /tmp
To me looks more like a mixed environment problem?
In this case don''t want to go 64 bit yet also need quota.
Can one run a 32 bit xen kernel under 64 bit dom0?
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Please define 'forwarding'. Your DC needs to be authoritative for its
dns domain, so all that it should forward is anything outside its own
dns domain.

Was holding off posting until I could describe it better but running out

Sorry I know this is not enough.
I need to put it on another kernel soon but I can try on another
firewall if anyone has any ideas to try.
Thanks

clonezilla and xen problem.
In the past I have used clonzilla under xen to backup windows domains.
I just tried it and it will not work.
this is xen 4.1.2 and clonzilla-live 1.2.10-14
the disk line is:
disk = [ ''phy:/dev/xvg0/nfdlts-c,hda,w'',
''file:/extra/isoimages/clonzilla.iso,hdc:cdrom,r'' ]
It boots cd OK.
The problem is devices are xvda not hda and clonzilla is not happy with

Bizarre problem
I can not see how this could be a xen and/or amd64 problem but the evendence
seem to point to it.
I''m running ltsp under xen 3.4.2 64 bit dom0 on 5 servers.
Noticed that on some systems that acroread always crashes when opening a pdf
with a fillable form. I see no error messages anywere.
Some domu are 32bit debian etch using pygrub.

What is a good reference samba pdc with smbldap?
Originally used Samba-3 by Example but do not know if that is still current.
My current samba domain controllers that were set up about 5 years ago are
still broken after doing a lot of "fixes". Looks like there have been some
changes since I first set up and like to compare what I have to reference.
In case it's matters running

network scripts debian
Working at setting up some new firewalls with multi-path routing over 2
isps. Doing it with debian sarge.
Problem is the normal network scripts use ifconfig and route.
In my tests I did a simple setup script.
Feel like I am reinventing the wheel :-)
Is it OK to use the network scripts to setup the interface and then
remove the routes ifconfig created and add any needed routes with ip
