Transforming/appending data (words in IMDB)
Hi everyone, I am doing an analysis of reviews in IMDB and am running into trouble getting my data into the right shape for analysis. Key question: I want to know for each word in the IMDB, whether it is over- or under-represented in a particular category (Rating x Genre). I was figuring on estimating this with a g-test, fwiw. But the basic question I'm asking here is about data

Gumboy Crazy Adventures DEMO v.1.22, no 3D acceleration
Hello, I cannot get a 3D acceleration to work in Gumboy Crazy Adventures DEMO v.1.22. 3D acceleration works fine in other games under wine. There is an entry (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=13410) in appdb about Gumboy Crazy Adventures v.1.15 that works great. I didn't test it, cannot find that demo version on the net.

Shares mount on linux but not windows?
Curious. I have a gentoo server running 3.0.23d that simply serves out shares. It is a domain member, but not a pdc. From another linux server, I can mount up shares without a hitch. But from a windows box, I keep getting prompted for credentials. I am not seeing anything substantial in the logs. SMB.CONF -------- [global] workgroup = UNICITY realm = MYREALM.MYDOMAIN.COM

[OT] Canada on Rails by ferry?
Hey y''all, Are any folks planning on taking the ferry from Seattle to Vancouver (via Victoria)? I''ve never done it before so I have no idea how much of an adventure it is. Flights are a $100+ less to Seattle than Vancouver so the price works out the same or a bit less. My plan is to fly to Seattle (from Savannah, GA) on Tuesday to catch the early ferry on Wednesday

Hey, This week I return from AstriEurop and I'm lucky because I left yesterday, many of my Asterisk friends are stranded because of the air and rail strikes that got worse today. I will mention a few things I think are interesting from my meetings there and hope a few others will make it and share their experiences. in particular, Mark Spencer's keynote held a surprise or two. Also, we

Weird validation issue
Hi, I''m having a weird validation issue. Validation isn''t working for certain attributes and, for some reason, it''s also affecting things outside of validation. For campers on certain camp types, we require some information about their school. I tried to validate the information this way: validates_presence_of :school_type, :if => Proc.new { |c| !c.booking.nil?

Yesterday''s adventures (calendar sample; swig)
At each step, I think I am past most of the big hurdles. At each step, I find another one. I''m sharing these development stories on the list for a few reasons: 1. Perhaps some of you will find the stories interesting 2. To preserve my lessons in the list archives so I, or someone else, can (re)learn from them later 3. As a record of tangible progress 4. To vent some frustration
