Install Wine's fake-windows directory in different place
By default Wine installs its fake-windows part into $HOME. I want rather have it on a separate partition, that I mount as /wine. How can I do this? What I have found was: http://wiki.jswindle.com/index.php/Advanced_Wine_User_Information#Changing_the_location_of_Wine.27s_installation My steps so far: - Installed Wine with Synaptic - # wineprefixcreate --prefix /wine - I find the fake directory where I want it! - WINEPREFIX=/wine export WINEPREFIX - winecfg - still all fine up to here - double-click (in Nautilus) on the se...

Launch Linux version of Firefox from Lotus Notes 7?
hopefully it's not bad form to cross post from comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine to wine-users....I apologize if so. ---------------------------------------------------------------- I'm running Notes 7.0.2 and have tried 2 versions of wine so far (0.9.30, 0.9.29). I'm going to try some in the 0.9.19-0.9.21 range since those seem to take care of another problem I've got, but my gut

windows programms starting linux programms
Hi. I have got the following problem: I'd like to use the windows version of firefox in linux. When I download a file and tell firefox which application to use with it, the application opens fine. But the path of the file given to it by firefox is in windows style (C:\...). Is there a (easy) way to tell wine to covert the path to linux style? If yes, where can I read more about it?

Disable networking
I saw the notes about blocking networking on the advanced wine user information wiki (http://wiki.jswindle.com/index.php/Advanced_Wine_User_Information#Blocking_Network_access_to_Software_running_on_Wine) and I thought I'd try to come up with something a bit easier than running the application as a particular user: (add the "nonet" group) Code: # groupadd nonet (setup the iptables rule) Code: # iptables -I OUTPUT -m owner...

Changing the keyboard layout
...he button if I start the application normally. If I set in gnome my default keyboard-layout to a US-layout it works fine. But I don't want my default keyboard layout to be a US-layout, so I want to start just this one application with this layout. I read here http://wiki.jswindle.com/index.php/Advanced_Wine_User_Information#Running_wine_with_multiple_Languages that I shoud be able to do this with the command: LC_ALL=en_US.ISO-8859-1 wine program.exe or LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8 wine program.exe (both are in my /etc/locale.gen) but it does not work, if I start the program like this the "degree"-key is not kn...
