Map share based on site?
Hai Marco, > It is still true that 'samba-tool sites' is 'not recommended' and it i > better to manage sites and subnets with ADSS? Or that page have to/can > be updated? When i look at the page modify date, i say use the RSAT tools. I dont (hardly) use samba-tool here.. I do everything through RSAT tools. > Only a little note: You can target the ip range in the GPO also, this should help you in what you want. Greetz...

Samba4 multiple DCs replication
Mandi! Julien TEHERY via samba In chel di` si favelave... > Is there a good pratice when adding new remote DCs in terms of replication > topology? I think you have to define a topology of the domain, using ADSS: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/canitpro/2015/03/03/step-by-step-setting-up-active-directory-sites-subnets-site-links/ defining links and weight. -- dott. Possibly a bug
I believe that I've found a bug on Samba 2.2.3a. Sure, there is the 2.2.5 version out there, but reading the changelog I couldn't find something that looked like what I've found. Problem is: Some files (very few of them, about 0,5%) are created, with 2 another copies. The file witch would be the real one is perfect. And we got "for free" 2 corrupted copies of it, with

Map share based on site?
In Samba/NT i was used to share mapping done in netlogon script, so users move around between sites, get home and profile from remote location but still have share mapped from local servers. In Samba/AD, using GPO, share mapping is in ''user policy'', and so user roam between sites and get different policies? I'm googling around but i'm a bit confused... i can still use

not quite demoted, yet
...I can see references to the first DC that remain. Unfortunately, that DC no longer exists so I simply cannot demote it again. Following the instructions on the "Demote a Samba AD DC" page "Verifying The Demotion" section, I can see references to the original AD DC in the ADUC, ADSS and the MMC Console. So, I need to fix this. Currently I am running a Samba 4.3.11 version AD DC. I see that it is suggested that I use v4.4.0 or newer to "Demote an Offline Domain Controller." I have a second v4.5.0 AD DC waiting to join the existing v4.3.11 AD DC. The idea is to joi...

Unable to join a DC to a Site that doesn't already have a DC in that subnet
...hanged to protect the innocent): /usr/local/samba/bin/samba-tool domain join essence.internal.com DC -UAdministrator --realm=example.com --server=remotedc.example.com --site=local I am trying to do this due to the bug that doesn't allow the manual moving of DC's to new Sites by using the ADSS drag and drop method. I don't see that in your configuration. Are you using it? In a config using Dovecot's submission proxy?

Problem creating new DC's
...line 866, in send_DsReplicaUpdateRefs ctx.drsuapi.DsReplicaUpdateRefs(ctx.drsuapi_handle, 1, r) Which seem to suggest that the join fails, it tries to clean up and gets a NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT error. This leaves me with a non-functioning DC appearing in the Domain Controller list on ADUC and ADSS which need to be cleaned out. Any advice on how I can get around this problem?
