Cant Replicate Schema Updated With Adprep
I have a very old domain i inherited that is running samba 4.5.6 but is on schema version 30. I added a windows 2003 DC and used the 2008r2 adprep.exe utility to upgrade the schema to version 47. To do so the 2003 server had to take the schema and infrastructure roles. I am now trying to use the repadmin utility to sync the schema back to samba to it is failing with the following: [2017/06/09 16:34:11.855939, 0] ../source4/dsdb/repl/repli...

Additionally the new samba-tool domain adprep tool can help with the reverse, allowing 2012R2 DCs to join Samba domains after they are upgraded with that tool. Volume Activation with Samba AD
.... That seems unlikely, we won't have whatever is in that Volume Activation Services Role software. Even if that is just a client to AD (and it just puts enough stuff in AD to operate without any DRM?), you would need that around to set it up. But I guess it is worth a try, perhaps after the adprep patches are done (started at the end of last year) land which get the domain and forest prep stuff done, or if you adprep the Samba domain yourself. It will be an interesting ride... Andrew Bartlett -- Andrew Bartlett http://samba.org/~abartlet/ Authentication Developer, S...

Joining a windows 2008 R2 controller to sernet samba 4.2.7
...8 R2 Domain function level: (Windows) 2008 R2 Lowest function level of a DC: (Windows) 2008 R2 We are trying to add a Windows 2008 R2 domain controller. We follow https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Joining_a_Windows_Server_2008_/_2008_R2_DC_to_a_Samba_AD. If we run dcpromo, it keeps asking us to run adprep on the Linux domain controller. Does anybody have any clue ? --------------------------------------------- Christophe Borivant Responsable d'exploitation informatique --------------------------------------------

Doing some basic sanity checks on our Samba4 setup (migrating off of a Win2000/Win2003 AD) and the following command is throwing an error. Integration Windows Server 2012
...e you are > aware, plans can change), after that I am sure that 2016 will be added > as soon as possible. It depends on what you mean by 2012. We should be able to join and be joined by a 2012 server thanks to the work to upgrade the schema (patches in just some defaults to tweak) and the adprep stuff under samba-tool domain functionalprep However we can't be a 2012R2 functional level server yet, or in the near future, as we do not implement the kerberos features that implies. I'm still hoping to upgrade our Heimdal (perhaps SambaXP will help re- start that process) but that is o...

I've been able to go one step further. We first were not able to join a Windows 2008 R2 as a domain controller because it was asking for adprep. I found the missing datas in the ldap and added them. Samba 4 schema upgrade.
...domain has been migrated from Windows 2003 R2 so the AD schema revision is 31. However msDS-isRODC has been introduced in AD schema revision 33. When provisioning a new domain with samba 4.2.3, the AD schema revision is 47. Using .ldf files provided on the windows 2008 R2 install CD ( in support/adprep ), do you think it would be safe to try to upgrade the schema to revision 47 ? Christophe Borivant

AD Schema Upgrade
...: Two domain controllers both running samba 4.7.6 - Ubuntu package Version: objectVersion: 44 (server 2008) According to samba docs, 'samba-tool domain schemaupgrade' only works from 2008 R2 version 47. For earlier it says: 'the ldf files must be manually sourced from the Windows adprep tool and run with the --ldf-file= option' Any recommendations / suggestions on how to do that? Right now there's no windows DC on the network. Thank you
