Adobereader on Centos7 crashes
Hello All, I can't get Adobe Reader to run stable on Centos7, when trying to edit settings or trying to print, it crashes. The issue is people need to digitally sign pdf forms. When I open these forms with anything else then Adobereader, I get EM To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html I spent a lot of time trying to solve this with other pdf viewers, including google-chrom...

centos 5.4, firefox and adobereader plugin, disabled input fields
Hello, we are using firefox-3.0.15 from the CentOS-Repository and the adobereader plugin from the adobe-repository. We have a curious problem with adobereader-plugin in firefox. When a pdf document is displayed via the plugin, i.e. within a tab in firefox, all input fields are disabled. I cannot enter a search string or fill in fields. The cursor and page up/down keys are als...

AdobeReader on 64-bit PCLOS--how?
Some days ago I queried the list about getting LightScribe and AdobeReader to work on a 64-bit PCLOS-KDE system. By accident, I only replied to the one person who answered me, but I can report that the LightScribe problem is solved, and without the use of WINE. If anyone wants to know, please ask and I will post that solution. However. I don't believe that there is...

Problems with yum/rpm and %pre scriptlet error 255
I am running xen (2.6.16-xen3_86.1_rhel4.1) on top of a stock CentOS-4.4 installation. I have not added any additional virtual machines however. When trying to install (as root) acrobat reader 7 for Linux from the adobe rpm (AdobeReader_enu.i386 7.0.8-1) I get the following errors: error: %pre(AdobeReader_enu-7.0.8-1.i386) scriptlet failed, exit status 255 error: install: %pre scriptlet failed (2), skipping AdobeReader_enu-7.0.8-1 This occurs whether I use yum or rpm directly to effect installation and whether or not setenfo...

kghostview and xdg-open. Need to fix problem across whole system
...is used. It is what you get when you doubleclick on pdf files, it is what programs get when they try to use xdg-open framework. This happens even though xdg-open seems to think it is pointing at Adobe. $ xdg-mime query filetype manual.pdf application/pdf $ xdg-mime query default application/pdf AdobeReader.desktop I've had it happen before that users make mistakes and then the mime types are accidentally re-defined in the user accounts. I have not had it happen across all users accounts that something goes so wrong. How can I tell the Gnome mime system to always use evince for opening pdf, no...

Options for dpkg when using package type
Hi, I''m trying to use "package" with "provider" "dpkg" to install packages in Ubuntu that is not in a repository (or packages that I don''t want to take from a repository). Typical examples of this are "AdobeReader" (acroread) and "Opera". The problem with these packages is that they don''t seem to have a 64 bit version so that to install them (not using puppet) you need to add the option "--force-architecture" to "dpkg", e.g. "dpkg -i --force-architecture ope...

PDF Reader/Editor for CentOS 5.7 (32 bit)?
I had, in the past, a .pdf reader that also permitted me to fill in some information, when I received a .pdf file. I have KPDF installed, but that seems to only have Reader capability. Trying to install xpdf, with yum, I get this dependency error from rpmforge: 1:xpdf-3.02-8.el5.rf.i386 from rpmforge has depsolving problems --> Missing Dependency: libXm.so.4 is needed by package
