Ok. Thanks.
I add another question, lurking the list in these weeks. It seems to me
that some users/group does not to have UID/GID (i suppose generically
rfc2307 data) assigned.
Eg, looking also at your answer here, seems that Admnistrator it is
better not to have UID and only 'domain users' and 'domain computers'
need a UID.
After the migration with 'classicupgrade' i've:

root at lupus:~# getent group | egrep ":5[0-9][0-9]:"

fileshare creation method
...a share from Windows, without adding them into the Administrative
Users field in the smb.conf? Or is there a way I can automate this? I have
a number of admins across campus who will need access to create shares
through computer management. I can do it as long as there is a valid
account in the Admnistrative Users field in the smb.conf and the
/etc/passwd. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, I probably should mention that I am using Red Hat Enterprise 3.
Thanks for your help.

Why is my R package still compiling with the O2 flag?
When I install an R package with cpp codes such as rrcov via CRAN (under
R 3.1.1, using no Makevars file and under Ubuntu 14.04 using GCC 4.8),
the cpp code is compiled with the -o3 flag (in fact, looking at the
Makeconf file this seem to again be the default since R 3.1.1) But when
I install my own package via CRAN it is compiled with the -o2 flag.
My questions are what is causing my

LDAP node search stopped working after Puppetmaster upgrade
Hi-
I recently upgrade from 0.24 to 0.25. In my 0.24 config, I had LDAP
working such that Puppet was matching nodes in my directory to
determine what classes to apply. I upgraded to 0.25 and this stopped
working. I do not even see attempts from the Puppetmaster to search
the directory (i.e., no connections to the ldap server). I *did*
update the puppetmasterd conf, adding the variable

Security issue
Hello,
I am trying to convince our IT Manager that R is as safe as possible from IT security point of view - could you point me to something on the web / some reasons for why this is true? I do not think he has a specific concern but does not know the software and would like to understand the security implications.
Thanks in advance

Proposal: ZFS Hot Spare support
As mentioned last night, we''ve been reviewing a proposal for hot spare
support in ZFS. Below you can find a current draft of the proposed
interfaces. This has not yet been submitted for ARC review, but
comments are welcome. Note that this does not include any enhanced FMA
diagnosis to determine when a device is "faulted". This will come in a
follow-on project, of which some
