administrator not root
Is it possible to have samba adminitrator account with non zero uid?
I have a problem with email if admin is root. creating alias in postifx is somehow not a good option in my case.
Tks.

error adding a user
...troller.
I used to use the Microsoft usermanager.
After a general migration/upgrate I am not able to create new users anymore.
I can do it with the smbldap-tools, manually only from the root user but
if I do it through the usermanager it gives me an error.
A net user add command done with the same adminitrator user give me this error:
Failed to add user 'pippo' with: WERR_GENERAL_FAILURE.
from the logs:
[2010/12/31 04:30:44, 0] passdb/pdb_ldap.c:2197(ldapsam_add_sam_account)
ldapsam_add_sam_account: User 'pippo' already in the base, with samba attributes
Any hint?

CentOS & eclipse
I'm running an up-to-date CentOS 6.5 and I wanted to install eclipse so I went to System->Adminitration->Add/Remove Software and installed eclipse-cdt-1:7.0.1-4.el6 and a bunch of dependent packages.
>From the eclipse help menu I see that this is version 3.6.1. According to wikipedia this is a eclipse Helios which was released in June of 2010.
My question is why is this so far out of date...

Paradox on a Samba share
I've been trying to get a program that uses Paradox databases over Samba
shares set up for a company here and I'm smashing my head into a wall.
This is a custom application written with Delphi/BDE accessing Paradox
tables on a network share. Previously they used Netware and all was
glorious until the box died, since they're version of Netware was
bootlegged ages ago I decided to

samba 3 b3 and nt accounts
Okidokey things are flying here
However
I am a domain admin and as such when I logon to a win 2k/xp system I
should be able to access the system stuff (like changing the domain) as
well as certify a new machine to the domain.
With the Samba user however I log onto the machine now and no longer
have my admin rights to change settings :c( (I hate this quirk of xp/2k
it's almost enough reason

Mount at boot - and a bug - where to report?
just in case you didn't put this problem to rest...
I found I got the "tree connect failed: ERRDOS - ERRnoaccess (Access
denied.)" when I removed my windows user from the administrator group
and I was mounting to a c$ share so I suppose the windows account
requires admin access if I'm authenticating with it from linux.
PS: this problem is best debugged from un/mount scripts and

Samba PDC on FreeBSD problem?
Problem: Samba running as a PDC on a FreeBSD, the clients can connect
without computer accounts and browse the shares in the domain.
Should the PDC allow that?
As far as i have understood the PDC should refuse since the computer
does not have a account in the domain regardless that the user have a
user account?
Can it somehow be that i have named the computers as the users, user bob

shares, so I wasn't connected as users permitted to write. I don't know if
it's Samba's problem or windoze's. So I had to put guest to the write
list. But putting guest on write list of the printer didn't always work.
Best solution is to put printer admin = root, adminitrator, guest, ....
whoever you want in global section of your smb.conf.
After this you should be able to modify any printer and even use ACL what
really impressed me!
So I hope I didn't forget anything and this will help.
I'm waiting for 2.2.1 which should have couple things solved, so I wrot...
