gluster volume + lvm : recommendation or neccessity ?
Hi everyone,
I've read on the gluster & redhat documentation, that it seems
recommended to use XFS over LVM before creating & using gluster volumes.
Sources :
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Storage/3/html/Administration_Guide/Formatting_and_Mounting_Bricks.html
http://gluster.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Administrator%20Guide/Setting%20Up%20Volumes/
My point is : do we really need LVM ?
For example , on a dedicated server with disks & partitions that will
not change of size, it doesn't seems necessary to use LVM....

Synchronising password of some AD users with an external LDAP?
...heir attributes themselves should stay separate.
I know that if I were running a Windows AD, I could most likely
accomplish what I want with--if nothing else--the 389 DS by using
DS-provided Password Sync Service (see
https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Directory_Server/9.0/html/Administration_Guide/Windows_Sync-Configuring_Windows_Sync.html
for more information).
However, our goal is to completely migrate our AD to Samba 4, so
committing to any software that depends on the continued availability of
a Windows DC simply won't do.
How could I accomplish this synchronisation with Samba 4? C...

Replace faulty host
Hi Markus,
It looks quite well documented, but please use?https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_gluster_storage/3.5/html/administration_guide/sect-replacing_hosts?as 3.5?is the latest version for RHGS.
If the OS disks are failing, I would have tried?moving the data disks to the new machine and transferring the gluster files in /etc and /var/lib to the new node.
Any reason to reuse the FQDN ?For me it was always much simpler to remove the...

the configuration on the faulty host to be used

I want to use the same hostname on the new host.
What is the correct commands and way to replace the aribter node.
I search online and found this:

Can I use this guide to replace the host?
Please, give me advice on this.

I'm trying to deploy the Centos dirsrv consumer without running the

RECOMMENDED CONFIGURATIONS - DISPERSED VOLUME
Hi
I'm looking for an advise to configure a dispersed volume.
I have 12 servers and would like to use 10:2 ratio.
Yet RH recommends 8:3 or 8:4 in this case:
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Storage/3.1/html/Administration_Guide/chap-Recommended-Configuration_Dispersed.html
My goal is to create 2PT volume, and going with 10:2 vs 8:3/4 saves a few
bricks. With 10:2 I'll use 312 8TB bricks and with 8:3 it's 396 8TB bricks
(36 8:3 slices to evenly distribute between all servers/bricks)
As I see it 8:3/4 vs 10:2 give...

RHEL 6
If someone is holding appreciate some guidance about whether the share.

vfs_shadow_copy2 with snapprefix & delimiter options in samba 4.6.2
...pshots are with the following format, e.g. for daily snapshots :
daily_IPG_%Y.%m.%d-%H.%M.%S
I tried
shadow:snapprefix = ^d[A-Za-z0-9]*y$
shadow:delimiter = _IPG_
shadow:format = %Y.%m.%d-%H.%M.%S
I find an example at
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_gluster_storage/3.3/html/administration_guide/sect-smb
and I also notice that there is a bug :
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1329716
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2017-April/207869.html
May you help me to configure snapprefix and delimiter options ?
