Can't change directory to /public (Permission denied)-Illogical error in Samba 2.2.6
...were
set to rw:
Permissions:rwxrwxrw-
owner: root
group: root
Allthough Harm and administrator could open public when logged in
locally, samba could see but not open the directory, when the users were
logged in on the Win2000 machine, allthought they were able to see their
own /home/Harm and /home/adminisitrator home directories.
Once I set the Execute permission to Others, Harm and administrator were
able to open the /public directory.
Permission: rwxrwxrwt
I think they should be able to open it with rw-permissions only.
Is this an error or am I wrong ?

more cleanup: mis-named AD user
Stefan...
You changed the user his password while, I said, change the Adminisitrator password.
Let him logout and login again or you monitor his event logs remotely and see what happens if you change the Administrator password.
And try this.
!root = BUERO\Administrator BUERO\administrator

Samba, Winbind and Active Directory
Hi,
I am trying to set up Samba joining Active Directory. I have done this
successfully before and have most of my previous files.
Here is the issue I am seeing.
I can "kinit administrator@HQ.MYDOMAIN.COM"
I cannot "net ads join -U administrator"
I get thus message: "Failed to join domain: Invalid credentials"
The only error I seem to find is in my winbind log

Again, not personal, this is a more general problem i see around me.
And most problem i see, are because people dont follow the mass, stay behind, scared to upgrade,
which result in the end, in a hard time to upgrade and/or compatibility problems.
I'm saying this with 25years of system adminisitrator experience, and i've seen a lot.
And it does matter what the os is, wait to long with updateing and you get problems, more stress etc etc.

more cleanup: mis-named AD user
same user uses a share on one of the DCs (yes, I know ... administrative
small share)
there it is correctly displayed in smbstatus
So I expect some wrong/outdated mapping on the DM/fileserver?
