Slow Samba

Odd errors about enumerating shares... So I did a directory listing of
the shares, and lo and behold, some odd permissions showed themselves:

winxp roaming profiles and samba group access rights
...logging into the domain. A user who is not a
local user of the xpmachine cannot login.
Should I have security = domain instead of secuity = user ??
Would this fix this issue ?

ps testparm says everything is OK and there is an I cant find the path
error when the logon script is run for the home directories.
