re: access domain via ldap failed
I tried 'domain\username' in adexplorer as you say.But it doesn't work, too. It's the same warning. Do you remember I've ever mentioned that when I try to join the domain it succeed but still warned 'change the primary domain dns name of this computer to "" failed. the rpc server is unavailable.' I tried...

Unable to access AD with ADExplorer
Hi, I have a test AD running Samba on Ubuntu that I sometimes poke with Sysinternal's ADExplorer. A few days ago I tried connecting to it, but got a short reply of "The directory service is not available." As it was working earlier, I tried finding the problem. So bath samba 4.7.6 and 4.8.0 hava this problem. Can it be comfirmed to be a bug? If so, it seems to be an important issue that should be resolved as an important function of a DC. Up to now I only have samba 4.5.x that work normal. But 4.5.x won't have new version any more. While I want to keep my samba to be the newest security version. Hope this problem get resolved soon. access domain via ldap failed
Hi, Recently I try to build a domain with samba as the domain controller. It’s the samba 4.8.0. After I’ve built and install it on my Linux, I try to test it via Ldap connection. But it remains me that the server is not operational. I used samba 4.5.16 before, and it works well. Is there any difference between samba 4.8.0 and 4.5.x about samba access or Ldap setting especially. Here’s my smb.conf:

Win2000 / Win2003 ADS dnsHostName and servicePrincipalName
...with Fedora. Since i had to change the hostname in the middle of the process and update krb5.conf as mentioned above and i noticed that somehow dNSHostName in Active Directory was set to "HOST/localhost:localdomain" which clearly cannot be correct. So i used SysInternals LDAP Explorer (ADExplorer.exe) to change the entry in ActiveDirectory to remove any reference to localhost. Unless i changed /etc/hosts to not have rmonster in "127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost rmonster", deleted from WinAD and rejoined. dNSHostName: rmonster.snslatc.hp.com servicePrincipalName: CIFS/...
