Doubt the relationship between NTLM and Kerberos.
Could someone explain to me what role does the Authenticating Kerberos NTLM
in Authenticating NTLM explained in
http://wiki.dovecot.org/HowTo/ActiveDirectoryNtlm ?
Not understand that relationship between NTLM and Kerberos?.
I have to configure thunderbird with simple password method and leave the
password to be blank or have to use the gssapi?
Although gssapi not supported by windows right?

The URL on the wiki, which had probably been shared before with you;
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/HowTo/ActiveDirectoryNtlm
suggests it does.
The URL quotes:
Step 5. Passwordless authentication
If you have logged on from Windows to the AD domain, try leaving the password field, on the account, on the MUA, blank. The username / password, from the initial logon to the Windows machine, are seamlessly picked up and supp...

Dovecot auth NTLM
Hello, this is my first email to the list... i?m configuring Dovecot with
NTLM authentication, at least this is what i wanted, but i?m having a few
problems.
1-I made my configuration following the steps from this howto
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/HowTo/ActiveDirectoryNtlm
from the dovecot official site, but my dovecot?s version is 2.1.7 and the
tutorial dovecot?s version is 1.1.16. But, the fact is that when i enter
to the wiki1, for the version 1.x i found that all the howtos are

multiple users to same e-mail account with ldap authentication
Hi, I was looking for a particular case of dovecot configuration I
cannot find anywhere.
Is there a way dovecot can authenticate via ldap different windows
2008 AD users that have access to the same e-mail account (like user
authorization in ms exchange)?
For example I want to extend AD schema to let users have 10 email
accounts (with multiple domain support). If they are private accounts

Dovecot not liking AD config from wiki??
Hi,
I'm trying to setup Dovecot with MS AD and am using this as my guide:
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/HowTo/ActiveDirectoryNtlm
I can definitely access information on the AD server using wbinfo -g
and wbinfo -u.....
Currently my dovecot.conf file looks like this:
# v1.1:
#auth_ntlm_use_winbind = yes
# v1.2+:
auth_use_winbind = yes
auth_winbind_helper_path = /usr/local/bin/ntlm_auth
protocols = imap

Need to authenticate Outlook and NTLM
...ents to authenticate using domain credentials, so
I've also hard-coded user and password into /etc/passwd and let the Dovecot authenticate via
PLAIN LOGIN. Now, however, I am mandated to switch all users to Outlook, so I need an AD
credential solution.
I found https://wiki2.dovecot.org/HowTo/ActiveDirectoryNtlm and followed those instructions.
The first problem I ran into was in Step 3 where it said to put the following line in the
config:
auth_ntlm_use_winbind = yes
This gave me an error when I restarted Dovecot:

Authentication with AD and quick mbox question
Hi,
I'm attempting to implement Dovecot 2.1.3 built on a FreeBSD 8.2 64
bit system from ports.
I had the servicve up and running on a local vbox demo which did a
very simple Maildir format sytem which was situated in ~/Maildir.
I would now like to expand the system and tie it to a Windows domain.
What is the best way to go about doing this?
Can Dovecot be directly tied in or do I need to

Second that means having Dovecot know how to accept NTLM authentication

A 'Dovecot NTLM' search led me here:

What's not on the page that I'd expect to see, are the compile-time
requirements for inclucing samba/kerberos libs within Dovecot.? If it
doesn't 'just work' with the config changes in the wiki, you may need to
recompile with the right features.
Also - check the permissions of...

Passdb + single sing on + NTLM + Thunderbird.
Hi!,
I want to use single sign on from Windows with Thunderbird or Outlook using
NTLM.
Which should be placed in the configuration file for passdb?.
Currently I have:
passdb {
driver = pam
}
But it generates the following error when trying to check mail:
dovecot: auth: pam (pepe, 190 108 101 120): unknown user
If I remove imap passdb just does not work and I add at the end of this
mail the
