ACSS question.
Hi,
I tried sending this to acss at openssh.org and acss at openbsd.org but I
got "Returned mail: no such user" on both accounts. So I am sending
here in hopes of an answer.

RedHat forks OpenSSH?
...ll is modified from the official portable
OpenSSH distribution. It does not have a digital signature, an
independent download site or even a basic list of changes. From
diffing this source against the official release, it appears that
the only change is deletion of files related to the experimental
ACSS cipher. It is unclear why Redhat has chosen to do this: the
cipher is disabled by default and their own Cygwin product has
shipped these same files for many months, as have many other
Linux distributions.
Nobody disputes Redhat's right to fork OpenSSH, but why does
Redhat not make their desir...

OpenSSH 3.8.1p1: call for testing
Hello All.
Portable OpenSSH version 3.8.1p1 nearing release. This is primarily a
bug fix release and we're asking for interested parties to try a
snapshot [1]. A reminder: we rely on community feedback to find out
about problems, particularly as there are many platforms any
configurations that we don't have access to and can't test.
In most cases, running the built-in tests is

Inclusion in OpenSSH as opposed to OpenSSL? No clue.
However, since DVD decoding hardware is fairly ubiquitous, maybe there
is potential for OpenSSL-engine support to leverage hardware
acceleration for the ACSS cipher for everything in your system, and not
just a couple of DVD player apps. The last time I checked, hardware
crypto acceleration cards are expensive (the cheapest hifn based board
was around $100 if I remember correctly), and optimized for short SSL
web traffic. Also, relatively weak symme...

Note it was still advertised in the 6.3 release notes.
Has it been replaced by a git(1) repository? :-))

4.6p1 chan_read_failed error
The 4.6p1 sshd is logging this error during remote commands or file
transfers:
error: channel 0: chan_read_failed for istate 3
Platform is Solaris 8, 4.6p1 + OpenSSL 0.9.8d.
The commands and transfers work correctly, so the error message appears
to be spurious. The error message does not appear when processing logins.
Otherwise 4.6p1 is running without any apparent problems. This error
