acpidump crashes on some machines
Hi, we have some problems with acpidump running on Xen Dom0. On 64 bit Dom0 it will trigger the OOM killer, on 32 bit Dom0s it will cause a kernel crash. The hypervisor does not matter, I tried 4.1.3-rc2 as well as various unstable versions including 25467, also 32-bit versions of 4.1. The Dom0 kernels were always PVOPS versions, the...

[PATCH v3] pci: prevent putting nvidia GPUs into lower device states on certain intel bridges
...ons" has a picture about the supported power state transitions and there we can find that function must be in D3hot before it can be transitioned into D3cold so if the _OFF() for example blindly assumes that the device is in D0 when it is called, it is a bug in the BIOS. BTW, where can I find acpidump of such system?

ACPI utilities
I have an Athlon system which isn't co-operating with the ACPI in -stable (I haven't tried -current yet). I notice that the general recommendation in -current is to provide the output of acpidump but none of the ACPI userland has been MFC'd. I just had a quick try and building the -current userland on -stable and found this is non-trivial because it appears that the APIs are different between the two versions - AcpiOs{Read,Write}{Port,Memory}() have different prototypes. Any suggestio...

I am sure it's uploaded somewhere already. But it's not an issue of just one system. It's essentially hitting every single laptop with a skylake or kaby lake CPU + Nvidia GPU. I didn't see any system where it's actually working right now (and we are pestering nv...

Rewriting Intel PCI bridge prefetch base address bits solves nvidia graphics issues
...ne too. It is just S3 suspend that is affected. This was testing on Linux 4.18 unmodified. I had to set nouveau runpm parameter to 1 for it to use runtime pm. Also checked with Karol's patch, the S3 issue is still there. Seems like 2 different issues. > Could you share some details: > - acpidump > - lspci -nnxxxxvvv > - BIOS version (from /sys/class/dmi/id/) > - kernel version (mainline?) [PATCH v3] pci: prevent putting nvidia GPUs into lower device states on certain intel bridges
...e works > as expected (I am not 100% sure on if that always works, but I will > recheck that). AFAIK, if there is no driver bound to the PCI device it is left to D0 regardless of the runtime PM state which could explain why it works in that case (it is never put into D3hot). I looked at the acpidump you sent and there is one thing that may explain the differences between Windows and Linux. Not sure if you were aware of this already, though. The power resource PGOF() method has this: If (((OSYS <= 0x07D9) || ((OSYS == 0x07DF) && (_REV == 0x05)))) { ... } If I read it...

The same AML code fails to properly turn on the device. Is acpidump from this system available somewhere?

Bug or not?
.... Clearly you folks have put in a ton of work. I would feel bad about trying to shove a developer into my problem and I do not have the time right now to join the development team. Besides my day job I am currently writing a library to interpret BSDL files (JTAG). I am having a bit of trouble with acpidump which is telling me there is no -n option. The acpidump I am running is from a package called pmtools. Is that the correct thing? I am in gentoo and used the following ebuild to do the install. http://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/sys-power/pmtools/pmtools-20110323-r1.ebuild?vie...
