Are winbind and wbinfo Acitve Directory Site aware?
Hello. I am faced the issue of working winbind/wbinfo in a large Windows Domain. My Windows Domain (Win 2008 R2) has many Active Directory Sites, and I have network access only to my local AD site. I successfully join my linux computer to domain and command `net ads lookup` says what all is ok Response Type: LOGON_SAM_LOGON_RESPONSE_EX GUID: XXX-XXX-XXX Flags: Is a PDC:

samba authenticate to 2K AD?
Has anyone on this list been able to configure samba in such a way so that it will authenticate to windows 2K acitve directory. What I want to do is this: install samba 2.2.7 onto a Redhat linux 7.3 system, then configure samba (I think using something called smb_pam) so that it will join the windows active directory domain. Is such a thing possible? Has anyone here done it? I can't find

Functionality of Nmbd at Active Directory mode of Samba4 !
As I know runnig of Nmbd at Acitve Directory mode is quite unofficial now (but possible) . I will not ask why it is not reccomded to run Nmbd within Samba4 started at AD mode. But if somebody can tell, you are wellcome. But when nmb code implementation is planned to AD part ? That is when nmb functionnality adding to Samba4 acting as AD is planned ? To bring possibiity to use full-forced

Authentication Scheme for Samba3.0beta
Hello, I'm trying to configure authentication for my Samba3.0beta box against our W2K (mixed-mode), Acitve Directory network. Is Windbind still the way to go for login authentication in Samba3.0 using my Windows domain account? I want to stay with our Acitve Directory PDC authenticating me. Is there a way to get my Kerberos ticket at login for my Samba box? Being able to easily

Re: KVM incremental backup using CBT
Thanks Kashyap, The command line examples makes thing quite clear :) rsync for image (large) files create a new file for every little change, that was the reason I started looking in to using dirty bitmaps. /Jd On 10/11/14, 1:13 AM, Kashyap Chamarthy wrote: > On Fri, Oct 10, 2014 at 07:32:06PM -0600, Eric Blake wrote: >> On 10/10/2014 11:37 AM, Jd wrote: >>> Hi >>>

Samba4 changing a user's password from linux workstation
Hello Rowland, We’ve been using SSSD with Acitve Directory for a few years now… It’s been solid for us. Our Linux clients use the AD-Kerberos via SSSD for secure NFS4 mounts with POSIX attributes defined in AD (uidNumber, gidNumber, unixHomeDirectory, loginShell). Before putting into production, I tested using Winbind and could not get it to do what I wanted. If I remember correctly, I had

KVM incremental backup using CBT
Hi Looking in to implementing (CBT like) delta backup for KVM. The following looks promising..(last paragraph) http://wiki.qemu.org/Features/Snapshots2 * In the last para, there is a mention of copy the blocks from the disk using dirty-bitmap as reference. How to accomplish this ? block-mirror with bitmap or is there a qemu-img command ? some details would be

Hello mailing-list, this is my first post and i hope that you enjoy my very bad but sometimes funny english. My Problem is the following: First of all, my server-config: Samba Version 3.0.20b-3.4-SUSE on a SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 with Kernel 2.6.5-7.252-smp Now the problem is, that samba generally works fine, but it doesn't work to work with a special application directly on a
