samba 4.5.0 on HPUX(IA-64) make quicktest fails with error Failed to add entry for user.
Hi Team,
I have build samba 4.5.0.on hpux.
On running make quick test is failing with below error.
I am attaching the logs with log level 10.
*Workaround:- *I have implemented workaround by adding all the test
users(force_user, smbget_user,user1,user2.......) from useradd command.
Is it an expected behavior on hpux ?
Note:- I am not sure if this issue to be send to samba-technical mail list.

Hi,
I have an issue with *samba-3.6.6*.
It has been installed with :
./configure --prefix="/usr/local/samba-3.6.6" --without-winbind --with-fhs

smb.conf contains :

Samba4 Domain Account Lockout
First off, I apologize if this is a duplicate - I had some issues with the first email I tried to join this list with!
I'm currently using samba4 as an AD DC (domain and forest are both configured with the samba-tool command to be at the 2008_R2 functional level) for both Windows and Linux systems. I've got the default password settings set using the "samba-tool domain

PDC -> BDC Question
Hi Everyone,
I was wondering I am setting up a BDC at another physically separate
location on a different subnet, and I am currently working on what files I
need to have copied between the computers and which need to be made on each
server. The specific question I am dealing with is what TDB files I need to
replicate filesystems between the two servers. Below is a list of what the
files I

WG: PDC -> BDC Question
Hello Nick,
I do not think it is possible to just copy files like this from one to the
other samba.
You can do the copy job with rsync or scp.
I made a samba PDC and BDC with ldap master ldap slave. So on both servers
are the same users
Groups etc.
Both machines must have the same SID

Question about tdb files
Hi list
I'm running a samba 3.0.24 with an ldap backend and as a print server.
The server is also serving printer drivers for my Windows clients.
If more information is needed please let me know.
I have a question about tdb files.
Some of my tdb files haven't been touched since my installation in
december 2005 and I'm thinking if this is something I should consider
critical or not.

No dice. I've edited the smb.conf, stopped the services, copied the old
tdb again (account_policy.tdb group_mapping.tdb passdb.tdb
registry.tdb secrets.tdb share_info.tdb winbindd_idmap.tdb); started
the services and...

what are *.tdb files?
In /varcache/samba/ I have several .tdb files. Like brlock.tdb,
locking.tdb, ntdrivers.tdb, etc. Excusing my ignorance, what are these
files, and what do they do? And why must they be copied when migrating
from one samba server to a new one?

CTDB and locking issues in 4.4.6 (Classic domain)
Hi list
We recently upgraded our fileservers from Centos supplied 4.2.10 to
Sernet 4.4.6, and then our DCs from 3.6.x to 4.4.6.
It seems that since then we've had problems with locks not being obeyed
on all nodes - they only seem to work when a second client opens a file
on the same node as the first client.
For example, when a user opens an Excel file I will see something like

Samba AD DC backup - again
Hey list.
I've searched all over last year conversations and it is (kinda) still
unclear about backups.
samba_backup script assumes that samba4 was installed from source, not
from repository.
https://github.com/thctlo/samba4/tree/master/backup-script is too
overfunctional for simple backup script. Really, I know how to write
shell scripts, but sometimes have headaches reading them ☺

Storing privilege info in ldap
Hello
I have a Samba server 3.0.22 pdc on Gentoo Linux with a ldap backend all
working fine. I am now going to add a bdc to the setup. It seems that
the privilege info is stored locally rather than in ldap. I suspect that
it's in account_policy.tdb but I'm not sure. I can see the accounts on
the bdc and logon fine but the rights are missing when i run "net rpc
rights list". I

TDB functionality document
Hi,
Does someone know a document which explains the TDB structure.
functionalites, and format of the TDB files etc.
I need to understand why some of the TDBs like messages.tdb, unexpected.tdb,
brlock if not read_only, locking.tdb, session.tdb, wins.tdb are called with
TDB_CLEAR_IF_FIRST tdb flags.
Why some TDBs are opend with O_RDWR|O_CREAT flags viz. gencache.tdb,
group_mapping.tdb,
