LD accontability
As I was working on my extensions.conf file, I started to segment calling privileges. For the everyday workers, I don't free reign to LD access unless it is business related. So I was wondering if there was a way to implement some type of accounting code to be entered before accessing LD, which of course would be noted in the CDR (however it is implemented, either comma delimited or MySQL).

Little strangeness on dns-* account...
The dns-COMPUTER-NAME "user" contains the dns/SPN so be very carefull here and dont remove this user. Normaly, you would have exected to have the DNS/spn on the serverObject in the AD. So imo yes, a small bug, but as Andrew told this is intended. Adding : isCriticalSystemObject: TRUE Should not be needed. What i would do here is, use the description field. ( DNS Service Account

Runas Question
Okay heres a weird question is there anyways to make dovecot run as root ? Heres why: I'm currently using XMail email server (smtp/pop3/virtual accounts). And I love using it. But it really must run as root. I've tryed all the non-root solutions for it. and really I'd prefer to have it run as root. And I'd like to really use dovecot as (on server with xmail). Currently I've

Samba Authenticate against Active Directory
Hi! I'm trying to use the Samba Serrver Configuration tool to make Samba authenticate and authorize users against our Active Directory Server. But I'm doing something wrong since I can't get it to work. Our network has the AD at 192.168.10.10 and the domain in ALFA-MOVING. So in the Server Settings dialog I have: Authenicate mode: ADS Authenticate Server: 192.168.10.10 Keberos

Authentification using Linux user/password
I am writing an in-house web application with RAILS and I want users to log-in to the application before they can do anything. Since all users already have an accont on the linux machine where the web application will be running, I''d like to use these accounts for authentification. Is there a way in Ruby/RAILS to authenticate a user/password pair against the accounts defined on the

krb5_get_credentials failed
Using Samba 3.0.1 packages from samba.org on RH 8.0 kernel 2.4.20. I'm trying to get winbindd configured so that we can do single-sign on across Win2k file servers and Samba file servers with ADS. I've configured Samba to do shares but it prompts for username/password unless the user/pass exists in smbpassword. 'net ads join' was successful and secrets.tdb was modified. The

\\<Samba-Server>\nobody : feature or bug ?
Hello! I just noticed a behavior of samba I am wundering about: I have a Samba-Server with a [homes] section. As user "barth" I conect to this using \\<Samba-Server>\<any username> permission is checked for "barth" with his password and access is granted with the rights of barth to the HOME-directory of <any username>. So far so good. This also works

pdb_increment_bad_password_count
After moving from Redhat AS4 to RHEL 5.5 we started noticing these error messages in the messages log. Upgrade procedure was to build new machine with updated OS, install new samba, duplicate existing ldap server connections, and then shutdown the old box and put new one in place. Messages were not seen on AS4 box and smb.conf file is identical on new box. I am wondering if there was a change

Joining Samba to a non-Samba,non-AD, NT4 Domain
I am a Unix Admin, trying to join a NT4 domain. I do not have access to the PDC. When setting up a new machine, either Windows or Unix, on the domain, I ask the NT admins to create a new machine account on the domain for my machine. I then "associate" my machine with that machine account. I say "associate" because I'm not exactly sure what happens, something about

Step matchers
I think we all know that the readability of steps isn''t great right now, and in fact there''s a very recent thread that discusses just that. It was that recent thread that prompted me to explore this a bit. The basic idea is that you define step matchers, which have a regex, and then you match step names against that regex. Kind of tough for me to explain so I''ll just

Our network is using a mix of Win2k server, Win2k Pro, Win98, Win95 and WinMe machines, where the Win2k server is the domain controller and terminal service applications server and the Samba is a member fileserver of the domain. All workstations logon and mount the samba file services. We'd like to check if the problem could be solved by
