Sieve > Pigeonhole > external storage with LDAP or other data source available to dovecot
...hat I want to acheive, I need to sanely access at least an LDAP directory. 2. draft-ietf-sieve-external-lists (http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-sieve-external-lists-01) proposes a mechanism to pull mailing list addresses from external storage mechanisms such as LDAP, ACAP or relational databases. I'm interested in this, but would like to extend this functionality beyond just lists as the example above demonstrates. 3. there are security and resource consumption issues with doing this, suggesting that limits should be set, or the use may hav...

Question re: storing non mail files via IMAP
Hey Timo, I have a question regarding how dovecot might behave if a mail client (like, for example, Thunderbird) decided to store some of its config files on the IMAP server itself. Would there be a decent way of doing this with dovecot that wouldn't cause problems for other clients that didn't know about these files? Maybe there's a way to define a special folder that dovecot knows

What would you tell the CIO in an "ABCs of Email" overview?
One of the key points that came up when I researched and wrote the "Five Things CIOs Should Know about Fighting Spam" article (http:// www.cio.com/article/28830) was that they should know the basics of how email works. Otherwise, said plenty of techies, the CIO won't have the first idea of what the email admin is complaining about. So I'm going to do my part. I'm

Will pay $500 towards a Dovecot feature
10 days ago I proposed this addition (see below) to Dovecot and got a lot of positive response. I would like to make it happen. I'm willing to contribute $500 to the development of this feature. It doesn't have to be implemented perfectly but needs to be workable to the extent that I can telnet into the Dovecot server and run it manually from the command line. I want to at least be
