ext2 vs. ext3
Hi, I just tested ext2 and ext3(2.4-0.9.6) with 2.4.8-ac8, using bonnie++-1.01. The hardware is an old Pentium 100 box with 48M RAM and a 16.6MB/s EIDE harddrive. The test results(see attachment) show ext3 is a lot slower than ext2 in most aspects. Does anybody get better results? Wenzhuo

2.6 kernel on CentOS-3.3
...it is providing both. mkinitrd needs to copy both insmod(module-init-tools) and insmod.old (modutils) into your initrd, since you can use either 2.4 or 2.6 kernel. the initscripts_26 is trying to get the initialisation for both series (there is much room for improvememt). A prebuild linux 2.6.10-ac8 kernel is there too, but you don't need it, since you can compile your own. I did not make a mandatory requirement for such a package. /etc/modprobe.conf is autogenerated, but some modules could have changed name, so have a look at it! all the files are here: ftp://ftp.pasteur.fr/pub/BIS/tru/...

e2fsck: bad magic number in super-block
Hi, I'm on kernel 2.14.13-ac8 running Redhat 7.1. I've successfully converted all my file system to ext3 and is working fine for a couple of weeks. However, I did a silly thing when I e2fsck (version 1.23) an ext3 /home partiction without umounting it. Now, I believe my partiton super-block is corrupted and the system wasn&...

ext3 crash
...rebooted it, it came back up again w/o any problems, remounted /home ro and did a e2fsck on it, which reported just one illegal (bad?) block in an inode (the mentioned block was somewhere above the magical 4294967296 limit, forgot to cut'n'paste the error). I'm currently running 2.4.13-ac8, IDE Controller is a VT82C586, HDD is a Seagate ST320430A. Is there an easy way to resolve the symbols in the call trace? best regards, michael

[PATCH 1/3] nv50: enable h264 and mpeg4 for nv98+ (vp3, vp4.0)
Create the ref_bo without any storage type flags set for now. The issue probably arises from our use of the additional buffer space at the end of the ref_bo. It should probably be split up in the future. [PATCH 00/10] Add support for MPEG2 and VC-1 on VP3/VP4 for NV98-NVAF
As it turns out, with the proprietary firmware, the VP3 and VP4 interfaces are identical. Furthermore, this is all already implemented for nvc0. So these patches (a) move the easily sharable bits of the nvc0 implementation into the nouveau directory, and then (b) implement the other parts in nv50. The non-shared parts are still largely copies, but there are some differences, not the least of which

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list. I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without modifications. How did I try it? Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock ) Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee prep-out.log The build failed at the end: Processing files: kernel-xenU-devel-2.6.9-67.0.20.EL Checking
