[BUG] linux-2.4.7-ac7 Assertion failure in journal_revoke() at revoke.c:307
Greetings all,
I have hit a kernel BUG in revoke.c in kernel 2.4.7-ac7 twice today while
attempting to perform the same operation (patching stock 2.4.8 kernel src
with "patch -p1 < patch-2.4.8-ac4"). Syslog entries follow. Please
email me if you want/need my kernel config or any other information.
Thanks,
jtp

Changing root journal data mode
Hi,
I'm running 2.4.9-ac7 with ext3 compiled in, and I ran across this problem.
Now that I look back, it makes sence, but it wasn't obvious at first...
I wanted to change the journal mode on my / partition, so I changed my fstab
to:
/dev/hda1 / ext3 defaults,errors=remount-ro,data=journal 0 1
as well as several other...

The patch applies completely cleanly into the -ac kernel tree, without
even any patch offsets --- I just tried it against 2.4.8-ac7.
Alan, I think this is a trivial enough change, which can provide a
significant performance improvement.... "ls -l" on a directory with
50,000 entries and a cold dcache goes down from an elapsed time of
3:03 minutes (with 180 seconds of system cpu time) to an elapsed time
of 4.67 seconds...

Half-Life, Debian, Sid, Wine, Crap, VooDoo, Banshee, OpenGL, Mesa, Glide
...--------------------------------------------------
yea, well, i got HL working.
On my Debian SID box, without any compiling.
and here is my step by step tutorial.
you just need to get, or o.k. i got it and i guess thats' why it workes.
As base i set the acctual XFree4.1.0 ( SID ) and the 2.4.7-ac7 ( some
one told me XF4.1.0 would use modified DRM modules. and advides me to
use the ac-7 patch. otherwise the ac-9 didn't not work on my kernel (
what did alan do ? ) ) Kernel.
Addidtionaly i installed the following packages.
( they are for a VooDoo Banshee based system, may work on other sys...
