And only use the master password for testing or emergency use. Sporadic Issues
The problem is not icecast streaming, its trying to stream through a browser. It is very complicated to do. Each browser has it quirks depending on OS, version and what other audio programs that are installed. Having the external player link should resolve the issues. We gotten from using a browser player to letting the customer choose there fave audio player to use :) Even this has cause

Listen URL is Invalid
Hi; The listen URL on my Icecast page is invalid and not useable. I am trying to submit my station to Tunein but they reject it as invalid. It seems it was changed as I had been previously transmitting fine on Tunein. Thank you Regards, LanceSchilka MNET Radio -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... How to killsource from command line?
Hi Apologies - this is more of a bash question than an Icecast question. When I visit the listmounts.xsl page for my Icecast server, for example here: http://icecast.example.com:8000/admin/listmounts.xsl I see that each mountpoint is listed like so: > Mount Point : (/example.mp3) > List Clients | Move Listeners | Update Metadata | Kill Source > > 35 Listener(s) The code for the

running an icecast server
Hello everyone, I'm in the process of running an Icecast server and I would like to know some best pratices. 1. Should I place Icecast on port 8000 or should I change that to one more common (80, 443...)? 2. Should I place the server behind a webserver like ngingx or apache? 3.Can I disable the login interface? what can be disabled? My best guess is to run icecast behind a webserver,

Questions and problems about relaying
Hiya, 1> Master/slave relay should work for you.. something i found in the version i am using you have to define the mount name in the master config file for it to be relayed to the slaves relays. The current relesed version supose to resolve this issue, I still trying to compile it on my linux systems to test it out. 2> For non static IP address you can use a dynamic hosting service

How to killsource from command line?
They should work :P but if it the local server try using 127.0.0.1 for the server name instead, lot of server are not configure correctly to know what their address is. also the syntax user:Pass at servername should work also. I use it allot on a remote control server to force a client to drop. But one thing you have to make sure is that they not on reconnect in the client or it will

Sources can't connect to my server
Hey, The IPs from SL are from the DJ boards and the like that retrieve the stream information. They don't listen to the stream just pull the stram info. We support shoutcast connections, the firewall passes the port number + the next highest one. Therefor we open port 9000 for listeners, and 9001 for stream sources. This seams to work well for the shoutcast mount. This is all

icecast cluster
THe feature itself really dose not exists as a whole, you can set up relays to have a mount be hosted on more then one sever, these servers can be anywhere. The servers in the network is not the issue in hosting, it the bandwidth you have access too. The servers can handle a larger capacity then most bandwidth can handle. We have a fall back server we can turn on when we get up to 75% our

Listen URL is Invalid
Hey, All I can say is, it maybe a local network address not one that is accessed publicly from the net. If this not so, then it might be reaching out and testing to see if you up and running and can;t connect. Why I could not tell you other then you ISP might be blocking it or it not open on your firewall. David.. On Mon, Jan 27, 2020 at 4:01 PM Lance <lance at mnetradio.com> wrote:

Server kicking clients off
Hey, Something about streaming. Live streams are not live, they can be up to 15 to 20 sec off original encoding. This is to to overhead on both the server and client for encoding/decoding the stream, Any trans coding, and and buffering that has to be done on a "slow" connection. Unless the client decoder has some way to sync the stream, this delay will grow tell icecast

Who sets the mount point?
This is what i found out in use with the icecast servers. Mounts Can be made by each of the following: 1> The icecast.xml file define a mount with a username/password for this mount. Since most our broadcaster using edcast to broadcast the username is set to source. 2> The use of the global source password can create a dynamic mount. But, the best way is to define it in the
