Syncing emails from external server like Gmail
...That is what I used before and wanted to switch off. Here is the 2 main reasons: 1) It add extra header overhead similar to: Received by localost at time, etc....) 2) It put emails in local delivery queue so syncing becomes slow. 3) only backup, no syncing back. > > https://blog.sys4.de/abholdienst-fur-mail-de.html > > and/or imapsync is your friend Don't know about imapsync but I believe it has the same disadvantages as it isn't native dovecot. > > https://blog.sys4.de/mail-migration-mit-imapsync-de.html >

But it's the same problem: the article is not complete. It states "how you could arrange it". It would be nice that you did not have to manually write a getmail config file per user. And an example...

Client Identification
I have two seperate clients (using fetchmail) on two seperate machines that use the same login and the same ip address as each other fetching their mail over IMAP using IMAP idle. Naturally Dovecot assumes that they are the same machine but they are not so messages only get downloaded to one of the machines rather than both which is what I want. How do I get Dovecot to recognize them as two

getmail, dovecot, virtual users
Hello, I've got a dovecot setup with virtual users coming from a MySQL database. The only system user I have is the vmail owner of the email store. What i'd like to do is use the program getmail to back up my gmail account and place that in my user's virtual mail store. I'm having issues making the configuration file and where to put it. Should it go in the virtual user's home

Corrupted Mail?
Hello All, I have a Dovecot v2.2.12 installation running on a Fedora 20 box which is the mailserver for my family. This means that it is serving only 4 accounts. I use fetchmail->procmail to feed Dovecot and I read my mail on clients such as Evolution on (another) Fedora 20 machine, iPad/iPhone or squirrelmail on the web (running on the same Fedora 20 server). The average mail throughput for

How to manage email with an ISP restricted mailbox size?
Sorry if this is a bit off topic but I'm hoping list members here might have some ideas. Aim: use ISP provided email with restricted inbox size but keep an IMAP accessible archive of emails (including 'sent' messages) on a remote server. Scenario: - Don't want to run my own SMTP server - Have free ISP email with 1Gb mailbox limit and spam filtering that works well - Have remote

Looking for a guide to collect all e-mail from the ISP mail server
Hi all: I am evaluating mail server solutions for a small business. The trouble is, I am only a part-time admin and a newbie to mail servers. Most guides I have seen are rather unrealistic: they encourage you to expose your e-mail server to the Internet, and hope that you have the resources to keep it patched up. I would rather have an internal mail server that collects e-mails from a standard
