Dear Raja,
A Fine and Gray model can be fitted using the standard coxph function with weights that correct for right censoring and left truncation. Hence I guess any function that allows to perform st...

A plotting question - how to get error bars?
Dear R list,
Can anyone help with a plotting question? I'm trying to display some data
on a plot and I've almost got the format I need (see code below), but 2
things I can't get:
1. How to get "Jan","Feb","Mar" on the x=axis instead of 1:3?
2. How to get "T"s on the end of my error bars like you have in standard
scientific plots?
Any comments

Missing Values
I have just started using R for my PhD. I am importing my data from Excel
via notepad into Word. Unfortunately, my data has many missing values. I
have put '.' and this allowed me to import the data into R. However, I
now want to interpolate these missing values. Please can someone give me
some pointers as to the method/code I could use?
Thankyou,
Lillian.

NIS+ support
...hought I'd offer it out to those
(Solaris and Linux only?) users who are using NIS+. If one or two people find
that it works for them too, I'll submit it for scrutiny and inclusion.
The only changed file is nispass.c, and anyone who would like to try it
can find it on:
ftp://ftp.biomed.abdn.ac.uk/pub/samba/nispass.c
If you try it, please let me know how you get on!
Tested (briefly) on Solaris 7, will probably test on Linux soon. Should
be trivial to modify for the HEAD branch also. This looks like a nice
way of providing a secure, distributed password database with commonality

simplifying a GLM-removing categorical variables
Hi,
Thanks for reading this mesage!
I have created a GLM (using the quasipoisson family) and am now trying to
simplify it. One of my explanatory variables is categorical (vegetation
type, with 6 different levels). In the model, 5 of the 6 levels are
significant and one is not.
How should I simplify my model? Do I need to take out the whole category
(i.e. all of vegetation type), or just the

I tried to install R 1.1.0 on my i686 PC with Redhat 6.2 Linux on it.
I am using fort77 with f2c. I am not able to build R, as libc.a contains
regex.o, causing a conflict with src/main/regex.o. the ONEWS mentions
that this problem was solved, but it obviously was not. I am not a real

Monitor Wireless Networks
Hi,
I am having interference with my neighbouring wireless networks.
Is there a linux tool that enables me to monitor the ESSID, channel,
power output and other information for neighbouring wireless networks?
I am especially interested in the channel so I can choose a different one.
Thank you,
Joe
