5.1 streams into ogg.vorbis
Hallo, I'd like to get all channels of an ac3 5.1 stream coded into vorbis. With sox and oggenc it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone know a tool that can do this under linux? The ac3 stream is also avialabe as wav6 file converted by the cvs version of a52dec. This wav6 file contains one stereo stream and 3 mono streams. Is there a convention which stream number in an ogg file means which loudspeaker position in the wide spread 5.1 sourround systems? (Or in the better 7.1 systems) Thanks alot and bet regards Lars

diff to vorbis-tools-1.1.1
Hallo everybody, I just created a small patch for oggenc to be able to read and encode wav6-files. This files are of micro$ofts WAVEFORMATEXTENSIBLE format type and can contain multiple channels. a52dec can produce this type of file from ac3 streams. Might be it would be better to teach oggenc to read ac3 streams natively. There is probably a better way to encode low frequency channels contained in this files, but I'm not skilled enough to enhance oggenc in this way. Maybe there is one who w...

Build under XP with mingw: again about wave_out modules
...() call and it works fine. It uses a custom callback mechanism. - mplayer 1.0pre7 also sounds fine with win32 (waveOut) audio output. It fills a slightly different WAVEFORMATEXTENSIBLE struct (but a cast is used before the call to waveOutOpen). Another success for a custom callback mechanism. - a52dec (sample program for liba52) turns on the wave device using waveOutOpen but with standard callback mechanism (it uses the CALLBACK_NULL macro). These different cases suggest me the issue lies somewhere else than mingw32 suite. Anyway, i hope these new data can help to fix the problem, Elio.

totem: something wrong with gstreamer-plugins-ugly
When running totem to play a move (e.g. mpeg-1 file), it fails with the message: "A MPEG-1 System Stream demuxer plugin is required to play this stream, but not installed." After reading docs and trying various things I've reduced the source of the problem to the package gstreamer-plugins-ugly-0.10.11-1.el5.rf.i386.rpm # rpm --rebuilddb # rpm -q libdvdread libdvdread-4.1.3-1.el5 #
