Low-discrepancy sequences
Is there any way to _test_ if a given sequence is a low-discrepancy sequence? Or, equivalently, is there any way to measure the "discrepancy" of a sequence? WTIW, ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-discrepancy_sequence ... doesn't look like something implementation-friendly :-) Alberto Monteiro PS: low...

hierarhical cluster analysis of groups of vectors
I want to do hierarchical cluster analysis to compare 10 groups of vectors with five vectors in each group (i.e. I want to make a dendogram showing the clustering of the different groups). I've looked into using dist and hclust, but cannot see how to compare the different groups instead of the individual vectors. I am thankful for any help. Anders

Xen + NFS
...ir + NFS, load balanced between several servers running dovecot. I am not sure anyone would ever want to implement what I am about to describe here, but none-the-less, I thought I would mention it to the list to see if anyone has had the same experience, or could possibly help. What I am using to _test_ is a single server running RedHat Server 5 + Xen. Dom0 is acting as my NFS server, and a RedHat Server 5 guest running on the same machine is acting as my NFS client and dovecot server. I have a single directory exported from the NFS server which contains several home folders with inboxes stored in...

'breackpoints' (package 'strucchange'): 2 blocking error messages when using for multiple regression model testing
Good morning to all, I am encountering a blocking issue when using the function 'breackpoints' from package 'strucchange'. *Context:* I use a data frame, 248 observations of 5 variables, no NA. I compute a linear model, as y~x1+...+x4 x4 is a dummy variable (0 or 1). I want to check this model for structural changes. *Process & issues:* *First, I used function Fstats.* It

Allowing clients to test their Sieve scripts
Hi, One thing which came up repeatedly is that clients using the IMAP server I run (using Dovecot 2.1) wonder whether they broke their Sieve scripts, i.e. it often goes like "I don't know whether I just didn't receive any mail, or whether my filters broke. Can you check the logs?". I then usually just run the sieve-test binary (part of the Pigeonhole distribution) and send them
