plot with fixed axis proportion
I want to plot something (eg a circle) with a fixed ratio of the x and
y axis, or (even better) with a fixed size when I print it. Output
should then be a circle (actually it'll be someting more complicated)
with radius 5cm and not an ellipse.
I'm _sure_ this is not new, but after looking 45min for a solution, I
post here...
Thanks for help

handling association changes? What's the best practice?
Hello all!
I have a conundrum that I''m _sure_ someone else has already thought of
and solved. How does one best handle the scenario of association
object changes and data integrity?
For example, if I have a standard ecommerce site that sells Products
and people can have Orders and an Order has_many Products... then,
what happens if Product #3...

my vorbis comments
...an input vorbis file. vorbiscomment.c, of course, has this
same problem, and so I had to borrow the hack from there.
d. People say the info_[A-E] has approximate bitrate X, but those
structs don't have the bitrate_* fields set, what's up with that?
e. The other stuff I'm _sure_ you folks are already working on, for
example:
i. A more general way to choose an info struct
2. vorbisfile:
Write capability.
3. ogg_page:
A way to compute page length. In order to compute the page length,
I've been adding header_len and body_len - which is currently
correct...

Samba4 openchange status
I strongly and completely disagree with statement that is "IMHO the need
for openchange is disappearing. "
It is the only and one project/soft providing Exchange functionality on
Linux platform.

maximum width for pdf device
Hi all,
What is (or how to I change) the maximum width of a pdf image. I am
trying to make a pdf image:
pdf(file="out.pdf",width=200,height=20)
and I can't get the image to be more that 200 inches wide i.e. I get an
empty out.pdf . Is there a solution around this.
Thanks.

Orthogonal polynomial contrasts
How do you remove one of the terms from an ordered polynomial contrast in
your linear model. For example, I have significant terms for linear and
cubic but not quadratic, how would i remove the quadratic term from
lm(response~treatment)
Cheers,
Chris

[LLVMdev] Breakage in CVS?
...t the call successfully returns. The call basically does some
pointer arithmetic, adding a small constant to "theGraph". When you
dereference vmap later, you are loading this. If theGraph is null going
into the call you won't get a segfault there, you will get it later. So
are you _sure_ theGraph is not null?

compile bug for 3.1p1 under Solaris
Hi,
There seems to be a bug in the 3.1p1 code compiling under Solaris. The error is below.
I saw that someone was having the same problem under linux and that they had already reported
the bug but I just wanted to make _sure_ it was reported. BTW, I'm running Solaris 2.7,
openssl 0.9.6a, and zlib 1.1.3.
Thanks.

forcing a zero level in contr.sum
I need to use contr.sum and observe that some levels are not statistically different from the overall mean of zero.
What is the proper way of forcing the zero estimate? It seems the column corresponding to that level should become a column of zeros.
Is there a way to achieve that without me constructing the design matrix?
Thank you.

Hardphone SIP phone costs
I'm trying to understand something that just doesn't seem to compute.
How can companies like Cisco justify selling their hard phones for as
much as they do? I know there is a matter of recouping R&D costs but
when you look at the iPhone with all its amazing features for less than
$500.00 it just doesn't make sense. Am I the only one that thinks this?

rescuing ActiveRecord::RecordNotUnique: clever or ugly?
I have an ActiveRecord that has several foreign keys, where the foreign
keys act as a single compound key that needs to be unique:
class CreateRelations < ActiveRecord::Migration

t.references :src, :null => false
t.references :dst, :null => false
end
add_index :relations, [:src_id, :dst_id], :unique => true
